Default Back in the saddle

Well I'm back! Who the heck are you?, you say? Well, I was here in late 04 and early 05, having discovered the beauty of the low-carb lifestyle through Atkins. I started off at 5'6" at 205 lbs and got down to 170 - 175lbs. I felt great! Enter problem.

I felt so great that I became comfortable in my new size, at my new weight. I thought, "Well, I'm comfortable, I think I'll just maintain here and live my life for awhile." That was fine and dandy for about a year and a half. I sloooooooowly gained 25 lbs in that time. Back up to 195 lbs. When you gain 25 lbs, you can't deny that like you can after gaining only 10 lbs. Although I never fully went back to the way I used to eat pre-Atkins, my indulgences were becoming more frequent than they should have been.

After seeing the scale finally tip into 195, I realized through an awesome new active, low-carbing boyfriend, that I'm not really as fit as I want to be for my lifestyle. I wanna go hiking with that awesome dude! Now I have been in Induction for about two weeks and the scale is down 10 lbs (gotta love that initial Induction shrinkage!) to 185, and I am fully into a nice, deep purple color on the Ketostix. I'm feeling great, doing Pilates, and getting motivated.

So now that my eating is back under strict control, I have decided that I must find a form of exercise that I love. I realize that if I don't begin some sort of strength training in now, that I'm just going to end up with a smaller version of my body type (larger upper body than lower body...and my belly....ohhh my belly needs work). I began my Pilates again (home DVD) and I'm also going to begin some serious weight trainin tomorrow. It's been feeling great to actually feel muscles instead of jiggly fat.

In my head, I always had an ultimate goal of being 125 lbs. But these days, it's just about sculpting my body into a strong and sexy female form, and enjoying life without worrying about the scale or the setbacks.

I know there will be bumps in the road--I've been there. So, here's to feeling positive, and the scale reading 6 lbs less today than 13 days ago.

Keep on keepin' on, everyone!

Welcome back, Pigsinspace!!! I used to live in Denver too (i really miss those mountains!) and i know how you feel about wanting to hike with your man and all. There are so many active things to do in Denver, in addition to the awesome shopping and food. I so miss Denver food - Hacienda Colorado, PF Changs... oh, and have you tried Rodizios? That is like Atkins paradise!

Since you have been on Atkins before, please come check out the "Second Time Around Club" forum. I think you'll love it here! Welcome back!!!
