Unhappy I cheated

Hello all,
I feel bad about myself because I cheated today. I'm on day 5 of induction. My hubby and I went over to the neighbors for dinner and everybody was eating bread, potatoes and rice with their chicken and I was just eating green beans with my chicken. I was starting to feel resentful that everybody else was getting to eat carbs. There was also a nice looking desert. I caved under pressure and ate a small piece of it. Did I completely mess up? I'm having such a hard time. I miss my carbs! What can I do to be more disciplined? I'm also a big fruit person and it has really been hard to cut out my fruit. I think one of my problems is that I'm not eating enough. I'm not a big meat and cheese person so I feel like I'm starving all the time.
Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thx.

One thing that will help you to succeed is to create a plan for success. Make a committment to yourself to make this happen. Don't let yourself feel deprived.

Look at all the foods you can eat on this WOE, try out different recipes and enjoy your new life-style. When you're invited to go somewhere, take along some things that you like to eat and have fun. This new WOL is about being comfortable with your choices, not being miserable. I was always miserable on diets before, but my new life-style now is satisfying and I feel terrific.

Doing a clean 2-week induction will help you with your cravings. Drink lots of water, take your supplements and exercise for your body and your mental outlook. Take your measurements so that you can see how many inches you lose and you'll be more motivated to keep going. The ADBB is a great source of encouragment and support. You can do this. With the right attitude and committment, you'll be seeing great results in no time. Soon you'll be able to by-pass the bad carbs and eat and enjoy all the good things that this WOE has to offer!

Like dream said, drink lots of water. Insane amounts of water, even. You'll feel a lot fuller, and it gives you something to wrap your mouth around. I know sometimes I'm just itching to eat, you know, out of habit. Instead I fill up a water bottle and sip from it to keep me busy.

Maybe you can set aside some of your carbs for fruit? I know you're not technically supposed to eat them, but it's better than cheating with something worse.

Good luck!

Always have a plan or plan to fail. When in induction I would strongly suggest that if you are invited to someone's house for dinner.........ask what they are having. Politely say you are on a special diet at this point and time and would be more comfortable if you were prepared. If it is something you know is not acceptable to your way of eating, then eat before you go! Or, if you think there will be a dessert that may tempt you.........take one you can eat (trust me, there are cheesecake recipes I have used and everybody thinks they are decadant). It is only two weeks.

PLAN! PLAN! PLAN!

Then have a back up plan!

It is up to you. Your the only one that can make this work. The old saying.......if it is to be, then it is up to me!
ok, you stated you are not a meat and cheese person. How about seafood? Chicken?
Eggs? You are only limited by your imagination on this WOE. Get through your two weeks of induction and start up the rungs.

Many of the vegetables on the Induction Foods list are naturally sweet or can be artificially sweetened and used for dessert, for example rhubarb, pumpkin and jicama.

When I was doing Induction, I found that jicama was very apple-like in texture and somewhat in flavor. Likewise, stewed rhubarb and whipped cream was a great occasional 'dessert' or stewed rhubarb by itself was a great cranberry sauce substitute. And pumpkin...well, there's alot you can do with pumpkin.

Be sure you eat your daily vegetable allotment. As you kill your sweet tooth, you will find that many vegetables, especially the 'vegetable-fruits' like sweet peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes, have their own sweetness and can easily replace the more traditional fruits.

The best thing for you to do is to get back on track with your next meal. Also sit down and write down all the stressors that caused you to fall off. You already mentioned some of them here like feeling pressured and feeling deprived. Once you've recognized all of these stressors develop ways to combat them. And most importantly, enlist the support of your family and friends. Don't be ashamed or embarassed to tell your host/hostess that you cannot eat a certain food. People are generally very understanding and won't be offended at all.

Do not berate yourself...I am a firm believer that the more you batter yourself about a mistake in your eating the more likely you will not consider yourself worthy of healthier food. If you think about this as a step in your growth and well being then you will progress and not regress...you took a bite of food ....it was not the "right" food for you ..lesson learned ..keep moving forward....

my advice is to make the food you do eat so glorious that you do not want the foods you know are going to make you unhealthy..look in the mirror and realize you are single most important person in your life ....so what goes into your body is very important...

personally I see sugar, white flour and white rice as a demons in a pretty dresses..they look so wonderful ..taste so good but the emotional and physical damage they leave behind is just not worth it in the bigger picture....

I have eaten these things since I have lost weight like cake on my last birthday ..and did fine ..but I know in my head that it is a very slippery slope back to the place I was before and that is not worth it...

you my dear may eat cream and cheese and butter and all kinds of yummy veggies ...there is a whole host of things out there to give you a content and good feeling ....

do not make loosing weight a punishment for something you did wrong....it is a reward for appreciating who you are

You need to get into ketosis, you may not be. Up your fat. Fry chicken and fish in olive oil. You say you don't like meat, but maybe you need a better cut. You need teach yourself to like foods you think you don't. Many folks here said they hated veggies at first and won't eat them, then they grew up, became the adults they are supposed to be, ate them, then learned to love them.

We need to be adults and eat like adults. That means eating good, whole, healthful foods. You can do it.
