| I did very little exercise in the first 2 weeeks and did lose. You should lose in the inital stages without exercising but you need to start as soon as you can. I understand your lack of energy is a concern but it will get better.

| I didn't exercise the first time and had results, I did exercise the most recent time and had results. The inches are better with exercise. I think that exercising brings on energy rushes.

| The lack of energy could be a symptom of the "induction" flu, as you mentioned getting headaches. Could be from the caffeine withdrawal as well...it should subside in a few days. Hope you are feeling better soon, and great job on your induction so far!

| If I remember correctly, it was about a week and a half until my energy returned. When it did, however, it did so with a vengeance! I remember feeling better and more energetic than I had in decades. Hang in there -- it will happen.

| I lost 9 lbs on induction without exercising, my first go round i think i lost 19. I am disappointed but not frustrated with the difference because i know with this second time around i will lose slower, i already had that talk wiith myself. But i know i HAVE to exercise, for a couple reasons, 1) the weight/inches will disappear faster if i do 2) It will make me feel better and hopefully less stressed 3) It will keep me focused on what i am putting in my mouth as when i exercise i start thinking of okay how many minutes on the devil machine do i have to do to get rid of this lol) And believe me lol it works! 4) I want to not only lose weight but look awesome when i have reached goal and the only way for that to happen is if i am toned and have exercising under my belt, otherwise, i will still be out of shape, just skinnier and out of shape and that isn't what i want. and 5) Because if i don't, i am not giving my full focus and effort into doing this. As Kat's siggy says "A year from now, you will wish you had started today." I am seriously thinking of making that a blinky lol Because its soo true! I am in the same boat you are, i finished 14 day induction and on extended induction now, and still am having a hard time finding that exercise motivation, i so want to become an exercise addict, but all my mind keeps doing is ugh! Hang in there, its all a mind game in reality.

| I admittedly did not exercise the first time I did induction and did fine anyway. Induction flu coupled with trying a new way of eating was enough for the first two weeks for me. Granted, that's my anecdotal evidence, and Dr Atkins said that "exercise is non-negotiable".

| Exercise will help you lose faster, and it also makes your body feel better. Exercising, although it takes lots of energy, gives you more energy in return. It also releases chemicals in the brain that are mood elevators...oh and it increases creativity (enhances right brain function)--I always get the best ideas when I'm exercising. Don't think that you have to go to the gym and put in 2 hours. Go for a 20 minute walk outside (if your weather is still nice--mine isn't!) or climb up and down the stairs 10 times. Doing exercise in 10 or 20 minute bursts is effective if you don't have time or energy for more. Hope your energy returns!

| this is my opinion on the atkins induction diet, it "can" help you lose weight but it also depends on how much effort you put in to follow "by the book". same goes for energy, it "might" give you energy it might not. don't expect the diet to work on it's own and expect the pounds to fall off and don't wait for the so called "energy boost" to kick in so you can start exercising. it's called initiative, if you want to lose weight you have to want it and if you want it you have to work for it. induction did help me lose weight but i didn't sit around before the energy came around, i worked out because it would benefit me in the long run. you can always lose weight at a steady pace by following the atkins diet "by the book" or you can put a lot of effort into the diet and exercise to get better results at a quicker pace. When it comes to working out only do what you can handle and later on down the road "kick it up a notch".

| I started exercising a little bit...and when I say little bit, I mean little bit the first week of my induction this time around. 5 minutes on the elliptical was all I could do. And that's what I did. Before I knew it, I was doing 7 minutes, then 10, then 15, 20, 45....
