Default The perils of diet soda

When it comes to diet soda, sometimes I feel like I can't win. For one thing, Atkins recommends against aspartame (Nutrasweet) and I personally am not a fan of the product.

Back when I did Atkins in the 90s, I used to buy Diet Rite cola all the time. No caffeine and sucralose. Made is ideal. Well...

Now I can't find the stuff anywhere in the Philadelphia area. I have sent an e-mail to them asking where I can get the stuff locally.

In the meantime, I like Diet Pepsi, but it has caffeine AND aspartame. So that;s out.

Diet 7-up now has splenda instead of aspartame, so I tried that and it was OK.

I went and bought some Diet Cherry 7-up and REALLY liked that stuff. Drinking a glass right now. Problem is, unlike it's big brother 7-up, Diet Cherry has aspartame.

It's not that I can't get by with drinking just water, but once in a while I get a craving for something else to drink.

So, now that my long story is over, besides water, what do people recommend to drink to quench their thirst?

Andy

Water with oil of oregano. The stuff seriously rocks and oregano, aside from being a fungicide, is also one of the vitanutrients he talks about in his book.

Try adding a drop for every 8 ounces. I think you'll come to love the zippy deliciousness that is oil of oregano.

i'm a plain water addict now. are you drinking the soda cause you "need" a sweet or does your water taste bad to you? you can alter the taste by altering the temp you drink it at too.

Oh, I'm drinking a ton of water. Very fond of the stuff. But once in a while, I want something "different."

I'm drinking a glass of soda every 2 days or so. Nothing outrageous. I think it may be time to buy some herb teas.

Where can you buy oil or ergano? I didn't even know you could extract oil out of oregano...

decaf green tea!!! I drink it iced like ice tea. Green tea is soooo healthy for you!!! Has awesome weight loss benefits too! Can be sweetened with splenda or liquid sweetener too but I dont.

I'm a fan of lemon slices in my water--it gives it an edge and tartness that plain water lacks. If I'm REALLY bold and daring, I'll add a lime slice. WOW a little goes a long way!

When I was in the "weight loss phase" of Atkins, I enjoyed the flavored Seltzers, available in 2 liter bottles. It had the carbonation of soda without anything else added.

OoO is really pretty good! You have to get used to it, so starting out with a drop every 16 ounces is better than every 8. Then you can work up to a max of 20 drops a day, according to the good Dr A.
