| A plateau is 4 consecutive weeks without loss of pounds or inches. Many people experience a mini-stall between weeks 3-6 of this Diet. Dr. Atkins explained this in the Atkins Video as your body adjusting to the weight loss. Just stick with the diet: following the rules, exercising, etc. And don't worry about not losing every week. There is a sticky thread in the 14 Day Induction forum called "Weight Loss is Not Linear". It might be helpful for you.

| Just know that expectations of linear weight loss are never maintained. I've been at this for a couple of years. My last 4 weeks. 0 lost, 2 gained, 5 lost, o lost. Just relax and learn to take it in stride. There will be many disappointing weeks on the scale.

| The scales will reflect the normal ebb and flow of body fluid from day to day and hour to hour as increases and decreases in weight. Your body is mostly water, and the amount in it is influenced by such things as your TOM, salt intake, medications, and workouts. So the scales may actually hide the fact you've been burning fat the 4th week, and then surprise you with a whooshie (sudden loss of multiple pounds) when your body retains less water.

| Also remember, if you are weighing yourself a lot that it is not a good idea, Have you been measuring? I would stick with that.

| I concur with the above responses, this is why I threw out my scales, it was great when I lost loads, but after a couple of weeks of not seeing changes on the scales (even if the tape measure told a different story) I would get depressed and discouraged. Give it time Kay

| Well, I haven't weighed myself since Monday, and I was so surprised to see this morning (Thurs) that I've lost 4 more pounds!!! I guess weighing yourself everyday wasn't good. I 'm glad I didn't get discouraged. Thanks for all the comments! |
