| I never found Atkins too expensive, but then I'm a real penny pincher and I look around for bargains and sales. I was reading a blog about fast food and a poster said that a 99 cent burrito at Taco Bell was less expensive than making it at home. Another person replied with a breakdown of the ingredients and their cost. It turns out at home you could make that burrito for 87 cents. I guess if you want a snappy comeback, you could always say 69 cents a pound for chicken legs is alot cheaper than $400 per month for diabetes drugs or something like that. Or you could just say I don't put a price on my health.

| Our freezer is actually full of meat right now because hunting season is over. 69 cent per pound chicken legs? Wow. I'm coming to live with you! I'm a penny pincher too, so we do all homemade here, too. I'm gonna have to start watching the meat sales a little better though. Typically, when our freezer is out of venison/etc., we just didn't buy meat and waited for the next hunting season.

| Before I went on Atkins, most of the money I spent on food went to waist... non-Atkins fast meal: An angus swiss and portabella burger with lettuce, tomato & onion $(price) Atkins fast meal: An angus swiss and portabella burger with lettuce, tomato & onion at $(price) - feeds one, plus you have a bun left over for feeding the birds for free...

| Yeah, I've heard that before. I typically respond with "Junk food is always cheap. That's why its junk." Betty

| I echo what a lot of the others have said and want to add that for me, as I climbed the rungs, my diet got less expensive. My meat portions and dairy portion shrunk a bit, and I have filled up on a lot of cheaper fare like cabbage, peaches, and sweet potatoes. Many veggies have always been very cheap. Also, I find that now that I've lost over 60 pounds, it takes much smaller portions to feed my hunger, which tends to save a lot on the grocery bill! Between DH and I, we both eat about half of what we used to and can stretch our food further. Something to think about.
