| its something to think about but no. I've already given up or wasted enough years of my life being overweight - I know Atkins works and that I'll get to my goal without giving up 10 years. Thats alot. wow.

| Even overweight, at least I'm alive. And I can enjoy things. Fat or thin, I wouldn't give up a minute of my time on Earth just to look prettier or thinner. What I am willing to give up? Carbs, as I've proven by doing what I'm doing. I mean, what good is being beautiful if you're dead (sooner, anyway)?

| Well said, Twilight. I'm not sure what point there is in being "beautiful" - whatever that is, if you're dead.

| The question doesn't solely refer to beauty. One's ideal weight doesn't equate to only beauty, but health, vitality and the ability to partake in more activities. It's not simply an issue of vanity or the ability to fit into size 4 pants.

| interesting. I gave spent 47 years of my life obese. No, I would not give up ten years of my life as it only took me a little over a year to get to where I am now. The thing that I would question is what would have been learned, what habits would have been changed. I have seen many lose weight only to gain it back again (yeah I did that MANY times!). Nope... would not do it. What I have learned is worth more then its weight in gold.

| Great question. I wouldn't, because I have learned the hard way that physical beauty is severely overrated. And because I have a miracle family from which I have no desire to be separated. Trade ten years just to have the perfect body? Words cannot express what a foolish sacrifice that would be. (I don't mean that I think you're foolish, gazaleh, just that it would be a foolish choice.)

| No I wouldn't now..but i bet if you had asked me this when I was younger I would have said yes....my priorities in my life have changed with age. I also read somewhere along the same lines that many balding men would give up years of their life to have a full head of hair...so it doesn't just apply to women and weight.

| I think I would, if it were the LAST 10 years of my life--and this is why. If I were to continue to live at my "old" weight and health level, I'd probably be dead 10 years earlier anyway.
