I am on my 5th day of a very clean induction (first time). I am down 9 pounds but have been constipated. I know the book says to drink psyllium husks in water but I really don't like to drink stuff like that...any ideas?????? This is so embarrassing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know what you mean about drinking the psyllium husks in water

So I used to add a spoonful to the chopped celery and mayonnaise I had as a snack on induction and I could eat it without really tasting it.

I just tried to find the psyllium pancake Naja posted but couldnt find the thread - it must have got lost!
But I did find this quote which I think was referring to the pancake recipe
I got some farm fresh eggs from a friend and made a very nice breakfast. Four of the eggs were broken in a bowl and mixed with heavy cream. I put in a few spoonfuls of psyllium husk and pork rind flour, beat it about, then added a bit of vanilla whey protein powder to adjust the consistency to a nice thick batter.
Please try stir-fry!! Also, canned pumpkin also has a bit of fiber, and is also Induction-friendly.

With the above in mind, here's another rather reassuring tip: there are only so many people you can cram into a Fiat before one passenger must get out and fend for himself!

Spinach is what does the trick for me... every time!

Do you think you might like flaxseed more than psyllium husks? There are plenty of recipes using flax here on the board: flax crackers, flax bread etc. or you can sprinkle some (always grind it, or it won't have any effect) over salads.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I will try them all. Are there any instructions to the mock pumpkin pie recipe? Thanks.

Hold on, hold on! Before you go the route of taking fiber supplements there are two things I must ask you
1) Are you eating your 3 cups of vegetables per day, making sure to choose those highest in fiber?
2) Are you drinking AT MINIMUM 64 ounces of water per day...and then some?

If you are doing both of these things, fiber supplements are usually not necessary, and constipation NOT a problem.

I'm going to tell you a little story that got this to click for me:
I went to the pet store one day and they went off on their spiel about how the higher end dog foods are better for your dogs because they are not made with CORN, Starch and bone/meat by-products but with real meat. The point they made was that when you feed high quality food (meat and starch-free vegetables) the dog gets more nutrition per serving on LESS FOOD and will therefore PASS LESS AMOUNT AND FREQUENCY than if they were eating basically Junk-Dog-Food.

When I went on this plan, I apply that same concept. So, you used to go every day or sometimes more than once a day...well you used to be eating junk food that was filled with garbage. Lots of garbage IN, lots of garbage OUT. Now you are eating less quantities of higher quality food, and you are going to GO LESS often. Unless you are having pain, it may just be that you're not ready to go. I go for a few days now and have no problems at all.

Please, try the veggies first. Jicama is a salad veggie that is VERY high in fiber.
