Default Hey, Still here, Got a question, or two, or seven...

Alright, where to begin. I've got Kalluri Vaanil on repeat, and it's making me not think straight, I love this song so much....

But, I digress...

Back in Feb, when I started, I was a 38-40 waist. 5'6, 255 pounds...

In July, I was a size 32 waist, 5'6 still, 175 pounds.

Some things happened, and right now, I jumped up a bit. I'd go over all that in detail, but I'm not sure who's really interested. It had a lot to do with a girl, if it helps any.

Well, currently, I am in a 33 waist, but hovering around 200. Here is where the question comes in.

I'm back on track, already started again, but I'm pretty close to where I wanted to be, so I don't know how to go about setting a new goal. As is, I want to get down to 150, because it's where I'm supposed to be (according to all those growth charts I see everywhere. Actually, on one, I'm supposed to be anywhere between 120-150)

Now, for comparison, my friend Richard is a marine, good build, 168 pounds. Maybe 1% bodyfat. So, if I'm lucky, I should shoot for somewhere around there. But, here is another question.

I'd like to get my waist to a 30, but I don't know if I have the bone structure necessary for something like that. How can I tell?

Also, my family has it's fair share of heavier set people. Not heavy, but meaty. If I reach my goal, I'm afraid they may try to send me away for obsessive dieting, as I'm always talking about it, and how I have this desire for a body type that is probably not within my reach, genetically speaking. And if I do reach it, I'm afraid they may thing I'm achieving my goals in an unhealthy manner...

I know what I want. I know how to go about getting there. I know how I want things to turn out. What I don't know is if my goals are unreasonable.

I'm too indecisive to figure it out for myself. Someone give me an answer, please?

Good morning! You know, it's really hard to say if your goal is reasonable or not. Have you had your body fat tested? That might give you a better idea. Also, and you may not wish to answer this, how old are you? Kylie

I agree with getting a body fat % test, this will give you a better idea of where you stand. It's not a good idea to compare yourself with others (such as your friend) as he could have a much different frame. I think exercise/weighlifting combined with this woe is going to be what helps with your body fat % the most if you feel that is what you need to lose.

Maybe try striving for a certain measurement or size or body fat %, or even how you look and feel, rather than the number on the scale.

Definitely don't compare yourself to your friend or anyone else. As far as choosing a goal goes...do you remember at what weight YOU felt the best? That weight is always a safe bet to go for. I think those height/weight charts are silly.

Okay, response time.

I've never been a small person, or at least, as far back as I can remember. I also wasn't a big fan of pictures, so I don't have anything to really compare myself with. And when I was younger, my parents were kinda struggling to raise 3 kids, so I was always told to fill up on bread, even when I wasn't a fan. Then, I grew to love bread. Big mistake, mommy...

I just turned 26, so my age is decent, I suppose.

I don't really know if I have a weight when I was happiest. I guess 178 was when I was probably happiest. Of course, what with all the built up confidence, I'm still fairly happy. I'd like to be happy, naked, in front of a mirror, or in front of a group of girls all fighting over me, but that's probably not going to happen within the next week or two. So I'll settle for 155. That'll be an even 100 pound loss. And, the doctors will be happy, because I'll be within a healthy range, according to all the misguided anti-Atkins doctors out there.

And then I'm gonna get a bumper sticker that says "It's hard work being this pretty."

Still listening to "Kalluri Vaanil" because it's such a happy song.

Skapaladin, it's a good idea to put your height, current weight and gender in your signature line, It can make answering questions much easier if we know those details

WHAT ???!!!!
No women like ska ??????????????
tssssssssssss

hehehe
Last time I checked (and that is not too long ago, since you have to go so often on this diet) I was a woman and I happen to LOVE ska !

What I wanted to say to Skapaladin:
I think you have set a good goal by aiming for about 150, what can also happen is that you think as you come closer to your goal you want to adjust it higher or lower, whatever YOU feel is right.

Initially my first reaction to your post was: Hey at least you didn't shrink in hight !!!

byee neighbour ! (<<<< lives close to SA)
