As for the shake information, what's the rest of the nutritional profile? That is how many calories, grams of protein, and grams of total carbs does it have?

| I am out of induction and I drink the shakes occasionally for breakfast. I have an early job, and 4 kids to get ready for school, so sometimes making breakfast or even eating breakfast is just not an option. So I drink them maybe 2 times a week if even that. I am still losing weight so they haven't stalled me. I think it is a personal thing and you have to see how they are going to effect you. Real food is the best. But it is always good to have another option when you need one.

| I drank the EAS Carb Control shakes through induction without a problem. Not saying everyone should, but it never stalled or hindered my losses at all. Betty

| I'm sure there are people here who drank endless cups of regular coffee or cases of Diet Coke during Induction and still lost weight.....but we don't recommend that at ADBB either.

| Megs, you crack me up! Well said!! I'd be curious to know what the ingredients in those shakes are, as well as the nutritional profile. Because this was brought up I'd like to respond to it quickly: If you plan ahead, you never have to worry about morning options. Knowing where your trouble zones/times are is more than half the battle and planning around them is a good portion of the rest of it. My 3 kids need breakfast before they go to school, and I'm not about to fill them full of food I know and view as unhealthy for me - so we eat breakfast; a healthy breakfast! Now, I *do* drink protein shakes, but they're made from scratch here at home

| Its all fine and well to say plan ahead, but sometimes its just not an option. Sometimes 'life' happens and you are unprepared for whatever reason. My mornings are complicated due to a few different reasons and every now and again, I just dont have time to make breakfast, nor do I want to eat whatever food I have prepared that is inthe fridge. I think it is unrealistic to expect prefect diligence 100% of the time. That being said, I would never keep drinking the shakes if they messed me up. But they don't so why shouldn't I take advantage of easiness of them when I am in a time crunch? Of course they are made with yucky stuff, of course I would rather eat real food, of course I don't advocate people drinking them. My point is if helps and it doesnt hurt, why not?

Life is complicated. <shrug> So what? I can use that as an excuse or I can accept that challenge. I choose to accept the challenge! No one expects perfect dillegence - but if someone can plan enough ahead to make sure they've got shakes on hand, there's no reason why the following can't be on hand either : Plastic microwave pans for 3 minute omelettes (with prepped ingredients, of course) Prepared jicama for jicama and cream. Dinner left overs. Boiled eggs and sliced deli meats. Berries/melons/etc all ready to roll with cottage cheese (*not* induction appropriate). etc, etc, etc. Wouldn't you agree? Quote:
Feeding my body "yucky stuff" and being comfortable with that is part of what landed me with a ginormous butt. It's part of the "instant gratification" and "fly by the seat of my pants" mindset that set me up for failure after failure after failure. I'd say that attitude and perspective certainly did hurt and not help! If that's not you - again - that's fantastic. I'm here to show the newbies that it CAN be done, there are NO excuses for half-assing it, and give suggestions to further illustrate the point. Keep on keepin' on and much success to you. ~Brook

| I dont remember ever saying that I fed my kids crap. And I certainly do not 'fly by the seat of pants'. I was simply answering a question someone started this thread with, and yet somehow I have been made to feel I am inadequate because I drink a shake now and again. I know the alternatives and believe me I eat them. But sometimes I like to just pop a can in my purse and drink it when I ca. I really dont need to feel somehow a lesser person for that. What if some people cant do this WOE without an occasional shake? Should they abandon the whole thing because they cant live up to your standards? I know the board doesn't recommend the shakes. I know they are a no no on induction. But jeez louise, dont make people feel bad about how they live their lives. You know absolutley nothing about me other than sometimes I have a shake in the morning.
