| according to the Atkins Carb counter (clickable link in my siggy) 3 oz raw shrimp has 0.8 carbs, 0 fiber, 0.8 total carbs, 1.5 fat, 17.3 protein, 90 calories check the info there for cooked with moist heat and canned.

| Thanks Jimmie, I'm still really confused though. According to Atkins counter 3oz. of cooked, moist heat shrimp has 0 carbs, 0.9 fat, 17.8 protein and 84.0 calories. Yet Fitday lists my 10oz. of shrimp (steamed or boiled) at 3 carbs, 6 fat, 74 protein and 387 calories...I can understand the higher reading at 10oz. with calories, protein and fat but I'm still not understanding the carbs. Is it because I ate 10oz. instead of 3? Like if we ate large quantities of a no carb food we would eventually somehow start adding carbs?? I think that sounds alittle crazy, but I'm trying to wrap my head around this. Maybe I'm just obsessing too much, but that darn shrimp according to FitDay made me go over on my very first day by 3 carbs. And I had planned on eating alot of shrimp over the next two weeks!

| some could probably answer better than me but this is what i understand. some foods will list 0 carbs because the amount per serving is .2 or .3, whatever the case may be. but if you are eating 3 or 4 servings, you can see how the number might change then to 1 carb. it's like eggs. per egg the number is less than 1 carb but we (I) tell everyone to count 1 carb per egg, mostly because i don't like dealing with .2 and .5 and so on. i haven't looked at how fitday calculates that. i am wondering if they are allowing for shrimp boil or other additives?

| Hi - did you prepare this yourself? Was it fresh? Did you weigh it before or after cooking? That can make a big difference. And jimmie48 is right - if a serving of something has less than .5 g carbs it can say 0 - but then 3 servings could be as high as 1.47 (3 * .49) - does that make sense? |

| Yeah, was it 10 oz raw or cooked? 10 oz. raw comes out to like 2.2g. I would suggest weighing raw, without the shell. 10 oz. of raw, peeled shrimp is quite a bit, so make sure you are weighing correctly.

| I bought it precooked, nonseasoned, peeled from the Walmart seafood counter. I measured out my 10oz. and then dropped it into plain boiling water just long enough to get it hot (I don't like it nuked) and then melted a tbs. of butter over it and gobbled it up. I guess I'll have to be a bit more careful when it comes to the .5, .3, .7 carb foods and such and thank you for explaining that to me. Better I learn these things at the begining than 4 weeks from now!

| One thing you mentioned was that this put you over on carbs for the day - I wanted to ask if you were deducting the fiber from your total carb counts for the day. You'll get the hang of this - sometimes it helps to enter your foods before you eat - that way, no surprises. And after few days, you will naturally eat smaller servings as the appetite supression side effect of ketosis sets in. |

| Was it packaged or loose? If packaged then I use the counts on the packet label to be accurate and add it as a 'custom food' in fitday. If loose you might be able to ask for the same information from the counter staff.
