| about a week and a half ago I cheated, and took me right out of ketosis. then i checked daily to see how much it was going up. it took almost 5 or 6 days for me to start seeing it, now im at the 80 range, thats how it worked for me anyways. id just check it everyday in the evening and see.

| I noticed my urine is almost clear, and it gets a little foamy looking, when I look at the stix it shows I am in the moderate range.

| Okay... here's an honest answer.... in the morning when you pee, look in the toilet. You'll see clear looking strands floating in the urine (I kid you not)... it's easier to see with the *lights on* and actually look for their shadow on the bottom of the toilet. That's how I know when I'm in ketosis.

| FER CRYIN' OUT LOUD.... How can you be sure the "strands", "thickness" or "color" have anything at all to do with diagnosing you are in ketosis or not. You would need differential diagnostics (call a urologist) and microscopic analysis to narrow down the causes of changes in urine such as those.... edit to add... if the ketone compounds dissolved in urine can cause it to be more yellow or orange due to their color and you pee some that appears this way how do you know it's ketones and not excess supplements with carotenoids or certain foods doing it? | Okay... not gonna get irritable, here - but you won't see squamous cells (above link) without a microscope. You CAN see ketones, which are actually compounds consisting of beta-hydroxybutyric acid, acetoacetic acid, and acetone. Just as you can see strands of protein (in what they call a gross differential - meaning with the human eye), you can also 'see' ketone bodies, if you know what you're looking for. The microscopic analysis does not provide any clues as to the causes. The physician (called a Urologist), will interpret the findings, along with the results of corresponding blood work. Agreed, just because you are passing ketone bodies - or what appears to be ketone bodies - may not mean that you are in ketosis. Just as the absence of ketones does not indicate that you are not in ketosis. I'm outta here.

| okay strange observation. I feel like there might be fat in my urine. I saw two little pieces of what seemed to be fat.. they were clearish/white and felt exactly like fat would. They were very squishy pieces of almost like rubbery fat. hahaha. i'm starting to get a little worried because I can't find anything ont he internet about this but can anybody help me out?? I know I've gotta be in ketosis because I'm losing it and I smell it in my breath. hahaha.
