Hi everyone. I've tried Atkins so many times but was never really true to it and just complained that it didn't work for me. But I have so many friends who have done it and look awesome! So I know it works. So here I am, I'm on day 4 I have been so good this time around! I'm really proud of myself for sticking to it this far and haven't even had a craving for bread or other sweets. My problem now is, I haven't lost anything! I was so bummed this morning when I got on the scale and it didn't move at all! I'm walking as my exercise, I drink my water, but what I did notice this morning is I think I'm eating too much cheese. I missed in the book that you're only supposed to have between 3-4 ozs per day. I've been eating it freely (opps) so maybe thats what I've been doing wrong? And also I'm wondering if the scale hasn't moved because I haven't been "regular"....if you know what I mean? (could be all the cheese) . So any advice or motivation you can throw my way is much appreciated!!!!

You got it hon. Try switching to 1 - 3 oz for awhile. Also I recommend much more water. I drink 220 oz a day. I'm like a clock if you know what I mean!
Make sure you're eating your 3 cups of veggies everyday faithfully, that is your fiber and you need it.

So give the cheese a break, give your scale a break, make sure you are only weighing in 1 to 2 times a week, (preferably 1).

Re-read your book, sounds like you might have just skimmed it, I did that and made several mistakes, try it again.

You WILL see a difference if you make those simple adjustments.!

Best of luck! Life is good!

I agree on the cheese, and just avoid the scale for a while. The first time around my scale was packed away due to remodeling. So I didn't notice any change in my clothing and then suddenly after two weeks I woke up and put on pants that were nearly 2 sizes smaller than when I started. It was amazing! Not that it will necessarily go that fast for your first 2 weeks, but just eat and exercise and it will happen in a nice whoosh.

I agree with all the above and just wanted to add.. make sure you measure. Sometimes inches will come off when the scale isn't moving. It's working that way with me right now.

I agree with the others too... I know it's hard and sooo tempting, but try to stay off the scale for awhile... Some people lose a little slower than others and that's ok!!! At least the scale will be going down and not up! Hang in there!!! xo

Good for you christie, read that book! There is SO SO SO much info in there it's hard to retain it all the first time. I STILL go back and re-read parts over and over again.

I'd ditch the scale at least until day 14. And after that, weigh only once weekly. I could weigh everyday, but why torture myself? I know my weight fluctuates daily based on uh, fiber, as well as water retention, etc. I only weigh on one day and only count the weight on that day.

And remember, you didn't gain all the weight in 4 days, don't expect to lose it in 4!

I'd say you "hit the nail on the head" so to speak! Cut back on the cheese, eat some high fiber veggies (spinach or Jicama are two good choices IMO) and drink a LOT of water to get things moving.

Here are some words of encouragement to all:

I was reading a magazine today and there was a study made by some university and they say that of all the diets that exist, Atkins is the one that has made a person lose more lbs in a year versus other diets out there.

It said something like most diets make u lose 1-2lbs a week and atkins averaging out I think was like 4-5 a week...I don't know if it was written like that but the idea is we lose more weight in the year than other diets!!

So be lucky that we all have choosen to do the atkins plan and no other...not only is it a more rapid weight lose than others but now its the one diet we lose the most weight!

Hope this helped!
