| My own experiences are the same as yours. Low fat diet caused me to be constantly hungry and thinking about food. Low carb/high fat makes me satiated much quicker and longer. But yeah maybe they mean the combination of high carbs and high fat not high fat alone, otehrwise it makes no sense.

| I also have to wonder if the statement is the combination of high carbs and bad fats together? I'll have to look at my Atkins book, but I think Dr. Atkins addresses that very combination of foods, and also says that it is a major contributor to obesity. However, what Dr. Atkins calls a "bad" fat and what Dr. Agatson (SB) calls a "bad" fat are different. Dr. Atkins calls trans-fats bad fats, but not animal fats. I believe Dr. Agatson refers to transfats AND animal fats as "bad" fats. Dr. Agatson and Dr. Atkins both believe in the "goodness" of vegetable fats when not corn based and not hydrogenized...I *think* (it's been over 2 years since I read South Beach). Anyway, there are plenty of members doing a high fat Atkins by the book plan here on ADBB who have had tremendous success in weight loss, improved lipid profiles, and improved blood glucose levels. These same members do not eat a pound of bacon fried in a pound of butter for breakfast every morning!

| I assume it means high carb WITH high fat. It's a true statement. Think of all the foods that are notoriously fattening: fried chicken, pizza, pies and pastries. They're combinations of lots of refined carbs with high fat content.
