Default Double Quarter Pound With Cheese - 40carbs?

I was looking at the nutritional information on a double quarter pounder with cheese today at mcdonalds.. I always remove the bun.. but I was wondering, it listed 40carbs.. the bun can't really have this many carbs can it? i'd think 25 at the most? Is the ketchup, mayonaise, mustard, pickles, etc.. possibly contributing to these extra 15g in carbs? when you all order at fastfood, do you guys usually order dry without anything to be safe?

Ketchup is EXTREMELY high in sugar so yes that will have an impact on the carb count.

I too will order my burgers without the sauces and relish. I stay away from the cheese usually aswell as its not real cheese.

I was reading through some old posts here (can't recall where it was now unfortunately)... but it said that the cheese at McDonald's was ok. Take off the bun and ketchup and you should be ok.

Apparently it's not according to their US Website:

Double Quarter Pounder® with Cheese++:
Quarter Pound 100% Beef Patty*, Sesame Seed Bun, Pasteurized Process American Cheese, Ketchup, Mustard, Pickle Slices, Slivered Onions

On the Canadian Mcdonalds website, you can choose the sandwich, and then you can add or remove the ingredients, IE take off ketchup etc and see what carb count you come up with - counts should be the same, our mcdonalds food is the same crap as in the US . This is a really easy to use, quick way of getting the counts for mcdonalds:

http://www.mcdonalds.ca/en/food/calculator.aspx (click on 'launch nutrtion calculator)

When I remove the bun on that calculator, I get 3g's of carbs, 2 for the ketchup and 1 for the cheese. We don't get lettuce and tomato on quarter pounders here? . you can always look at the carb counts for lettuce and tomato on anotehr sandwich i guess if you do get that on your's.

The Canadian wendy's sites' nutrtional calculator also has the 'add/remove ingredient' function. http://www.wendys.ca/food/Nutrition.jsp

Yes, I used the US version. They listed 5g for the ketchup...I love those things where you can add/remove ingredients.

Also remember that even though McDonalds says that their meat is 100% beef, it does have carbs in it. I sent an email questioning this and the reply stated that it had to do with the way they calculate the nutritional values. I can post McDonald's reply if you would like.
