| Do they make low-carb cough syrup? That was a bad joke. I stick to my diet when I'm sick (not sick often), and usually lose my appetite anyway when I have a cold. I mean, I don't think being sick is a license to go off the diet. Are you worried about meal preparation when you're stuck in bed? I guess that would be a good time to eat out or stick to ready-made foods. |

| Ready made food? I almost never cook (unfortunately) I have too many things to do (job, house, hobbies) when I am well. I eat the same way as on the diet when I am sick too just to make sure I keep getting the nutrients. In this Atkins diet I am almost never hungry so I eat out of choice not hunger. I was thinking about the meds? The Oregano oil seems to be working very well, my colds ordinarily last a week and I get about three a year, but this one started late Thursday fever and all, and I am almost over it early Saturday... so less than 3 days... yipee! I was wondering if there was some no carb meds we could take to hurry up the cold? |

| Fortuantely there are quite a number of cold/cough suppressants out there that we can use. Many of them are designed for diabetics so look for that or for sugar free on the label. The most common syrups around here are made by Tussin (Tussen?). N'ice also made a sugar free lozenge. Be sure to check the ingrediants though.

| Look in the diabetic section of the pharmacy. There are lots of sugar free sough syrups.

| Glad to hear you're nearly over your cold Kawispice. Hope you feel totally better soon. I too have been felled with a fluey cold and am doing the "broth" thing. Nice and comforting.

| Thank you! I never thought of checking the diabetic section... but of course it makes sense. I made some some chicken broth too, I like it really spicy. |

| Hmm... I've answered this post but it didn't come through. I use steak spice, also sometimes Tabasco, or black pepper. You spice it with the spices whose flavour you like in general. It clears the sinuses too! |

| Hi Kawispice, Nyquil and Dayquil Caplets (not the syrup) don't have carbs. www.vicks.com and then see FAQ's at the bottom of the page. Hope you feel better!
