Default A Stall or a Food?

If you are doing the wrungs and your weight has not dropped in 10 days, how do you know if it's a "stall" or the new food?
When I hit 208lbs., I stayed there for 17 days. I was on extended Induction, so no new food was introduced. Finally the weight dropped.
Now I have been at 198 for 8 days, but I am on wrung 3. How can you tell if any new foods are stopping the weight loss or it's just another delay?

In the scheme of things, 8 days is nothing.

There are other factors besides food. Are you exercising? Are you exercising enough that you could be gaining muscle (and losing inches) meaning you're getting smaller but the scale shows no "weight" change?

During OWL, when you are introducing foods on your particular rung, you should not eat a food more than 3x in one week. Only introduce one new food at a time--don't try 4 new foods in one day.

Look for other symptoms. After you eat the new food, are you bloated, crampy, irritable, have cravings, or do you feel sick? This could be a symptom of a food sensitivity or allergy. Also, it is important that when you are adding new foods/moving up a rung, you are NOT increasing your carb intake. So, let's say you are on Rung 2 and eating 30g carbs per day. EITHER you may move up to Rung 3 and stay at 30g carbs, or you may stay on Rung 2 and add 5g more daily so you are eating 35g carbs per day.

If you suspect a certain food, eliminate it from your diet for a week or so.

In DANDR, a stall is defined as no weight loss or inches lost for 4 weeks. Have you checked to see if you are losing inches? Sometimes that is what is happening when the weight isn't changing. Also, it is not uncommon to have some weeks without weightloss because your body is readjusting. Happy lowcarbing!

Default Re: A Stall or a Food?

I am using "stall" in quotes to just define a slow-down. I know that technically a stall is 4 weeks of no weight loss. I was just questioning whether a new food could cause a slow-down. That's why DANDR wants it introduced moderately; to see if your body can handle the addition.
But that's what I am questioning... I do not have any of the symptoms that Julirama723 mentioned. But from what I understand, a new food item can cause you to "stall". So how do you know if it's the food or just a temporary shut down?

Drop the food and see what happens. If your weight loss resumes, then the food is the most likely culprit. If it doesn't it could be something else.
