| My second batch of liver tests have come back and the results are worse. The tests are measuring inflamation in my liver. The doc asked me twice if I was drinking alcohol before the test (no, can't stand the taste of the stuff). She also asked me if I had any pains after I ate, again no. I only feel pain as she seems to try to put her hand through my belly ( I can't believe that's not supposed to hurt). Now I have an ultrasound test to look for gall stones (I can bet money that I don't have any) and have been ordered off the diet. I asked her if having a kidney infection could throw off the test results. She said yes and kept right on talking about getting the ultrasound and going off the diet. She also said I need to keep losing weight and that really losing weight is just a matter of calories in vs. calories out. I don't feel so supported by the doctor. |

| Dep--did you take the GTT after you'd been on Atkins? If you've been following Atkins and then take a GTT, your results will say you're diabetic. I don't know the specifics, but if your body is used to eating low-sugar/low-GI foods and all of the sudden is inundated with that really sugary drink, your blood sugar and insulin levels will go haywire. You might want to post this GTT-specific post in the Diabetes forum--you'd get MANY more replies!

| When you did your GTT, did you increase your carbs a few days before doing it? In Atkins Diabetes Revolution, it says you need to increase your carbs (healthy carbs) to about 100 carbs daily for a few days before you do the GTT in order to get accurate results. Ask the folks in the Diabetes forum for more detail about this.
