Default Food suggestions for sickies???

Hey, anyone got some great suggestions for food for sickies?

I just spent 24 hours of pure h3ll from either a case of the flu or food poisioning, but in any case I think I have a clean intestine, tummy, and lost 2 pounds. There's always a bright side to life.

When my tummies upset, I like to sit down with a fresh cup of hot fresh ginger tea. Ginger is very healing and good for your digestion. It will settle your tummy. Then you can think about whats healthy to eat.

That's funny you mentioned ginger. I put ginger in my water to drink almost daily. At this point, there's not much of anything settling my tummy.

Try diet Ginger Ale, chicken soup (i think it's allowed) & drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. I also take extra Vit C, Zinc & Echinacea when I am sick.
Hope you feel better soon!!!

I always go the "chicken broth" route too, when under the weather.

Thanks for the ideas!

Mom makes the best chicken soup. I just cooked up some chicken thighs and will have some left over to make my own "soup" with celery and veggies. We'll see how that turns out.

So far I've kept 1/4 of flaxbread w/peanutbutter, cucumbers and strawberries down, er, and in. We'll see how things progress.

Off to drink my water.

peppermint tea is meant to be good for settling a stomach.

Ilove soft boiled eggs and toast soldiers as well - dunno what you could do for toast though.

Default Re: Food suggestions for sickies???

I know that when I had gastroenteritis, I went to the doctors and she told me not to eat salad or eggs, and in the end, I ended up really craving strawberries (probably for the lack of sugars I was experiencing) ate an entire punnet and ended up giving myself hives that lasted four weeks!! Have never been allergic before or since but I guess it was just because I had nothing at all in a very sensitive tum!

**Also, and I'm ashamed to admit this, I remember before I had it that I was walking around people I knew had had it and actively trying to get myself sick as it would get me off work for a few days (terrible job I had at the time) and make me lose a few pounds!!! How terrible is that?? Since having gastro, I realise what a miserable time it was
