| Hi Mitzi. So glad you asked that question. I have the same problem but I was thinking that it's cuz my hair is so long, so curly and so much. I hate having to clean it all up after showers or after detangling my hair. Hope someone comes around with an answer.

| I know that B vitamins will help with hair, especially biotin. I've also read that zinc helps combat hair loss. You might want to post this in the Vitanutrient/Supplement forum and have biogeek take a look...she'll be able to answer your question better than I!

| The woman who does my hair told me to take lots of vitamin B, especially B12. When I first started the diet I lost tons of hair, the good news is that it grows back. I have sort of a windswept look because the hair that grew back is only about 3 or 4 inches long compaired to the rest of my hair. |

| I remember when I got to about 40 lbs lost. I lost a bunch of hair. I went to the doctor and she said that the reason was that when you lose weight rapidly, your body goes into shock. The hair lost are the hairs that are in the "dormant" phase. They fall out and are replaced by new "active" hairs. She said that you can take B12 and essential oils. But this was mainly to maintain the health of the new hairs. It won't actually cause your hair to grow faster or prevent further loss of dormant ones. The good news is that after the initial loss, the hair grows back. |

| Hi Mitzie, Do you have a beauty supply store that beauticians go to get there supplies at? I was in ours the other day and they had vitamins just for your hair. May be worth a try. You can also call the beauty supply and ask what they have and whats in it. Just a suggestion.

| Yes exactly, hair loss is due to huge Stress... when you lose tons of body mass it LOOKS as if you having a huge problem and in a stressful mode so your body reacts and as one of the side effects - lose hair. I lost TONS of hair literally, when I was taking a shower - my hair were all over. This is only temporarily, but to help with the problem, you can take lots of multi vitamins and lecitine and - go check any section related to HAIR - maybe even in Wal-Mart, whatever is available there. | Thanks so much for your replies, my friends. The boutique I work in is right next door to a Sally's Beauty Supply Store, so I'll have a look in there after work. I do take a multi-vitamin, but I probably could stand some extra biotin and B vitamins. My hair is incredibly thick, so I can't even tell I am losing hair except for the massive amount of hair on my hands when I take them out of hair after sudsing and from having to clean the hair out of the tub. Thanks again. |

| It is 5000mcg of biotin you need to take. If you have a Walgreen's near you (which I know you should being in Louisiana) they sell them in that strength.

| this condition is called telogen effluvium and is quite common in people who are dieting. When you lose weight your body goes into a sort of Shock. the good news is it's temporary and lasts about 3 months . then these hairs will re-grow. I had this and now am noticing new hair coming through.Just make sure you are eating lots of veges ( which you are of course!) and pretty soon there wont be so many hamsters in the bottom of your shower!
