Default Good News That Supports Low Carbing

My brother-in-law recently had a gastric bypass. He tried all diets, but just couldn't stay on them. Plus, he travels a lot and the temptations are just too great. He lost about 40 pounds in seven weeks so far.

Here is the great news. When I asked him what he's been eating, he said mostly chicken, fish, hamburger, etc. because the docs want him to get his protiens. Basically, he's doing a low carb plan with a few juices. He is in the state of ketosis.

I thought this was good news since sometimes we all doubt whether the higher protien diet is good (or at least I still catch myself wondering). Based on what the docs told him, ketosis is normal condition for someone eating less calories than they take in. In fact, they want him to be in a state of ketosis.

I do feel bad for people who have to resort to bypass surgery, but I understand how they arrive at such a decision and I don't think any less of them. It's just nice to know that even though we all fall off once in a while, we can get right back on and the net result is weight loss, no matter how slow or fast - the scale typicall shows a loss week to week.

I hit my 35 pound weight loss this weekend! I started April 1st. I went off it two weeks on vacation. During that time I went up four pounds, but then went back on right away and lost five. So far so good.

Take Care,
Dave

Hi Dave .... A diet like atkins is a very healthy way to eat ... basically we are descendants of hunter/gatherer type peoples and this is how they ate. The "bread"and higher carb thing didnt happen until later in history ( which is when a lot of health problems happened as well!) Of course you need to get all your veges etc in for nutritional balance. Its nice to know though that "doctors" also validate this style of diet . Its not like we sit down and eat half a cow everynight as some uninformed people tend to think we do!!!!! Well done on your loss so far!
