Default back again!

Hi everyone! I was on here a month ago, telling you all that I was planning to start Atkins for real, when I got home from vacationing overseas And here I am. Ready to go, 100 percent sure that this is the plan for me. I am thrilled! I really could use alot of support to get me through. But absolutely nothing will stop me this time, from accomplishing the goals and sticking to this way of eating.

I am sick of feeling bloated from carbs. I am sick of feeling nasty from chemicals and sugar. I am ready to rid my body of these toxins. Atkins rules!

Today so far:

brunch: 2 eggs, 1/3 cup cheddar cheese shredded, 1/2 of a green pepper, 1/3 of a large onion chopped, 1/2 tbs garlic ollive oil, pepper. coffee with half and half (im sorry but I refuse to give up my coffee, in my opinion, it has always helped with my weightloss, and I dont want to feel deprived. I will add the carb values into my daily counts, as well as the half and half, which only is 1 carb for 2 tbs).
total carbs so far: 13. I think I rounded up though. Please fix that if I'm wrong?

Question...you guys count net carbs or all carbs? Do you subtract fiber? Can we eat the Atkins bars or Shakes on Induction? How about low carb yogurt (only 3 grams per serving). (eggs just sound so boring after a while, in the morning, and its a bit hard for me to eat them right away when I get up...plus it takes time) The website and book are a bit different, so I am just wondering.

Thanks, let me know! I really appreciate it!! ill be keeping a journal periodically, or trying to.

i dont have a start weight...because i refuse to weigh myself until my "friend" leaves. And honestly, it doesnt really matter, I have a good idea where I am at. (in the low 130s...im 5'2) I have broken my addiction to scales and I really don't think the scale matters much. Whats more important is inches, how clothes are fitting, and working out. So I wont be a slave to the scales.

although, in 1 month, I will return to college. exactly 1 month. So...I am looking to be absolutely no more than 115 pounds by then. I was originally hoping for 110. Who knows...maybe the diet will REALLY work. What ya'll think? WHat do you usually lose in about a month? I lose weight quite fast (and gain too fast too).

Thanks everyone!

Yes - we deduct fibre to get the net carb count (In UK this has already been deducted from the total carbs on package labels so we have it easier!)

You 'can' eat whatever you want on induction (we all can choose what to eat LOL) - but if you want to stick to the rules then avoid the bars and shakes as they have ingredients that are not on the allowed list, so are not induction-legal.
The old Atkins company website used to have a whole page about the bars and shakes where they admitted that many people stalled from using them and advising to drop them if this occurred!!

Yogurt is not allowed till the dairy rung/level of OWL, which means waiting a month or so till you are at that stage.

I never eat eggs for breakfast unless I have made quiches which contain eggs. Other b/fast choices for me are meat/cheese rollups or flax bread with butter and Marmite.
Like you I have no time in the morning for cooking so always prepare my b/fast the previous evening.

BTW no-one 'has' to eat eggs for breakfast - you can choose any foods from the allowed list. One member regularly had leftover chilli (no beans of course) for her breakfast!!

Happy lowcarbing

Hello Singer!
I just wanted to say welcome to the ADBB! I've been here for a about a week and I have found these people to be amazing and more than helpful. They also taught me that I should keep a daily journal. It has made me more aware of what I'm eating as well as what I should be eating! I use the journal in combination with fitday and it's awesome. If you don't have a fitday account I would suggest setting one up! Glad you had a good vacation and looking forward to your success!

Thank you for the kind compliment

Ground Flax seed is 'legal' on induction if you are having constipation problems, to keep you 'regular'
Quote:
12. If you are constipated, mix a tablespoon or more of psyllium husks in a cup or more of water and drink daily. Or mix ground flaxseed into a shake or sprinkle wheat bran on a salad or vegetables.
Following the spirit of this rule instead of the actual words many of us use flax (linseeds in UK) in recipes to get our extra fibre in without gagging!!
There are many recipes around that use flax, just check the other ingredients to make sure they are all 'induction-legal'. In UK it is hard to buy ready-ground (and really expensive) so I buy the golden linseeds (flax seeds in USA) and grind them in a coffee grinder.
One recipe I use often is the microwaved flax bread recipe I posted on the lowcarb recipes database (link in my signature) which I adapt for pizza bases too and sometimes cook in the oven for a drier texture.
