Unhappy 7 Week Stall

I am having the worst stall of all time. 7 weeks now. I have gained and lost the same 3 or 4 lbs 20 times over. My body seems to be set at this weight and just does not want to budge. The dreaded exercise is the only thing I have not tried.

I even tried those shakes made from cream cheese, heavy cream, and water that are suppose to jump start ketosis and NOPE... No go.

Does anyone have any tricks of the trade that they could pass my way? I appreciate any hints.

Thanks
Cindy

I was reading in another forum that sometimes Candida is responsible for weight loss stalls in some people. But I would try the "dreaded" exercise thing first. I used to be so lazy, I hated the thought of exercise. Since I started atkins, I find now that I have to do something every day, even if its just walking the dog, or else I am sluggish for the rest of the day. And I now look forward to walking on the treadmill, I don't even call it the "dreadmill" any more! Once you get into it you start looking forward to it, how can you not when it makes you feel so great? And if it breaks a stall (and speeds up weight loss), even better.

Hi C4. I've never heard of those shakes? What shakes? Why don't you post what you eat in details so that we can help you figure out what's going on?

Hi Elsy,

Actually I think I got the recipe off the boards here someplace. It said because it was so high in fat that it should kickstart ketosis. But... it was wrong.

A typical day of food for me is for breakfast..... I have two eggs and a couple pieces of bacon or sausage. For lunch it is a salad from a fast food place. Usually Wendy's and for dinner It is a piece of chicken or a steak, hamburger patty, something like that with 2 vegetable. Cauliflower and squash or green beans with butter on them. For desert I make the low carb mousses with some heavy whipped cream on top.

Sometimes in place of the eggs and bacon I will drink one of those shakes as I previously described. Sometimes I might eat a couple of hot dogs with some cheddar cheese on top for lunch.

But I am getting terribly bored with this stuff and discouraged because I lost the first 12 lbs within 2 weeks and here I sit at this stall ever since. Oh... and I am drinking about 4-6 glasses of water a day BUT I eat ice cubes all day long to make up the difference. I do that because I really don't like water.

The shakes you are talking about are designed for use in the Fat Fast, which it doesn't sound like you need.

A couple of thoughts:

1. The salads from Wendys actually have a high level of carbs, I think. I think it's the dressing, but I'm not sure. Several people have complained about it. Might try bringing a salad from home. Or at least your own dressing.

2. You need to vary your food plan! That sounds INCREDIBLY boring and I'd be outta this woe soooooooooooo fast! Make some devilled eggs! Cook up some hot wings! Make a chef salad.

3. Hot dogs, sausage and bacon contain a ton of sodium and whatever they use to smoke the meat can also cause stalls. Try fresh meat, or roasted meat. For lunch, roll up some chive-flavored cream cheese in thin-sliced turkey with a little bit of raw spinach. At breakfast, make yourself a faux danish to go with your eggs.

4. What is your daily calorie intake, and how does it correspond to your BMI? Are you eating too little? Too much?

5. Exercise is not an option. You MUST exercise on this woe, or any other.

Evermind,
Thank you so much for your input and ideas. I am drawing a complete blank right now. What is BMI? I have no clue as to how many calories a day I am eating. What are the faux danish? Also, do you feel the water intake is enough to get by and do you have any ideas for snacks besides raw vegies? I will try to stay away from the bacon and things and see if that makes a diff. I do need to find other things besides the eggs in the mornings. Thanks again!!!

Hi Welcome to our ADBB family

Evermind is right, to avoid getting bored you need to find other variations of your menus.

I make crustless quiche or Pau's breakfast quiches (recipe on the lowcarb recipe database - link in my signature) for my breakfast or eat leftover 'whatever' from the night before. I usually make extra of any recipes to allow some handy leftovers for quick'n'easy snacks.

BTW how much weight are you hoping to lose and how tall are you? Most of us add this info to our signature to help other members get a hold of what stage we are at in our Atkins journey and be able to give relevant suggestions.

I see that you posted what you eat. Good idea, now you're getting real input. First of all, I would stay the farthest away from any shake for now, as possible. Second, I know bacon is allowed but prefer to stay away from it too. I did notice then when I stopped eating it, I started to lose really quick. You see all that sodium retains tons of water. Third, try other snacks like jicama, pumkin with cream cheese, pepperoni, lettuce with turkey roll ups, sliced cucumbers with a tiny bit of lime juice, mozerrella string cheese. Fourth, you definetely need to up the water intake. I drink between 100 oz - 120oz a day. Depending on how much you need to loose, you need to add H2O to the standard 64 oz a day. Oh, and the very last which Elizellen mentioned already. You must excercise. That is not negotiable. If you are already, then that's great. If you're not, try at least 20-30 min a day, at least 4 times a week.

Also, go to fitday. com and you can record everything you eat there. Make sure that if you are in induction you do the 65/5/30 percentages. You can't go wrong there. Good luck!
