| Sorry - I havent been on board much lately and missed your post. I just did a quick 'google' and it looks as if glucides is just the french word for carbohydrates. To see if it contains added sugar you need to look at the list of ingredients. Maybe you can list them so others can help you decide. Soya protein is not 'legal' on Atkins till you reach the legumes rung/level of OWL.

| I don't know about the glucides, but regarding soya protein I just want to say that for me the book holds conflicting views, b/c although technically a soy bean is a legume and it implies you should wait till you're on that rung, in reality soya has very few carbs (you need to keep track of them though, but they're relatively little). For example, shirataki noodles (noodles made from soy) contain like 1 or 2 carbs per serving. Veggie burgers and other fake meat is all made from soy and contains about 3 carbs per serving. I discovered soy protein when I first signed on to Atkins b/c I'm a vegetarian and the only other place I get protein on induction is through cheese, which I can only take so much of. I've been on induction for two weeks now, have literally lived off of soy protein and have lost 10 pounds so far. Soya is really healthy for you in lots of ways, I encourage you to eat more of it during all phases of Atkins rather than shy away. |

| BTW the only soya product Dr Atkins recommended for induction was what he called 'soy cheese' which nowadays is called 'tofu'. Because it is prepared in a different way from other soya products it has a different action on the body than other soya containing products. Many people feel that soya in quantity is not that good for you - if you google you will find many conflicting opinions on how it can affect the body to help you decide if you want to use it.
