| Hello Emma, Shirartaki Noodles are Japanese foodstuff. Is the label in Japanese or Chinese? However the importer maybe Chinese. Can you see any of these letters on the packet: わ or に or の ? If yes, then it's written in Japanese. If not, then it's written in Chinese, and I can't read help much more. Can you take a photo of the packet label? If you can, I'll read it for you. |

| Emma, I've heard they last refrigerated for up to 3 months. I've proven this theory (unintentionally--I forgot they were lost in the back of my fridge) and I'm still alive.

| Hello Emma, Nothing on there talks about the best before date. Often the best before date is written on the plastic seam of the packaging in Japan. Check where the seams where the bag has been sealed. The date format in Japan is year/month/day So today, 18th August 2007 Is written. 平成19年8月18日 The year 2007 is the 19th year of the current Emperor rein in Japan, so the year number is written as the number 19. 20 will be 2008, and so on. Unless the current Emperor dies, then the number is go back to 1 again. It may also be written in the normal way: 2007年8月18日 So can check the seams again? | Hayden, I'm impressed. Smart men are sexy. Muffin butt queen, I mean, Emma -- I'm pretty sure they have a shelf life of at least a month or two, if I remember correctly from my last package. I would tell you to open them and just smell them, but since they smell like dead fish even when they ARE fresh, that won't help.... Last edited by Adena; August 17th, 2007 at 10:50 AM. |

| Well...I get mine sent from the UK by courier... and never know how long they've been sitting in a lorry in the sun...but I get about five packs at a time and they last me ages (in the fridge), like at least 3 months... so I don't think they're that fragile. Well, I'm still alive! Hayden... I'm impressed too!
