Arrow Has anyone out there done a "cleanse"

Hi!
I'm getting ready to do a toxinout cleanse and a colonix cleanse next month just wondering if anyone out there has done it? The testimonials on their website are impressive and I'm ready.. what does everyone think?

I don't believe in them personally, I think if you eat at least 25g's of fibre a day from veggies etc, and drink your water....your colon/intestines take care of themselves. There are alot of 'good' bacteria etc that can be eliminated with cleansing, and I think it would throw off the balance and could be dangerous.

My 2 cents.

Have you done research on the internet, not just on the consumer site for the product you are using? Here is a short article i found on the mayo clinics website http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/col...ansing/AN00065
Quote:

Proponents believe colon cleansing provides health benefits — by removing toxins from their bodies, and boosting their energy and their immune systems. But doctors take a different view.

Although doctors may recommend colon cleansing in preparation for a medical examination of the colon, most don't recommend colon cleansing for better health or to prevent disease. This is because:
  • <LI class=doublespace>It's unnecessary. Your colon doesn't require enemas or special diets or pills to eliminate waste material and bacteria. It does this naturally on its own.
  • It may be harmful. Your colon absorbs water and sodium to maintain your body's fluid and electrolyte balance. Some colon-cleansing programs disrupt this balance, causing dehydration and salt depletion. Long-term or excessive cleansing programs can lead to problems such as anemia, malnutrition and heart failure.
If constipation is your concern, you can help prevent constipation without colon cleansing. Drink plenty of water and eat a diet rich in fiber. The Institute of Medicine offers these daily fiber recommendations:
  • 38 grams for men and 25 grams for women 50 and younger
  • 30 grams for men and 21 grams for women 51 and older

I think it's a lousy idea. It can be extremely harmful to your health, and, at the very least, irritating to your intestines.

Don't do it. Why would you need to? You're eating healthy food.

Best cleansing you can do is to drink your water and eat a high fiber diet. Your skin, your liver, your kidneys, even your immune system - all of these organs have been developed over literally millions of years to filter out and cleanse your body very well. If you get your exercise and veggies, particularly the high fiber and high antioxidant ones (blueberries, pumpkin, spinach) everything will clean out and purify nicely.

"Professional" cleansings tend to clean out your wallet the best.

I've don't know much about this but I know a handful of people who SWEAR by them. I've never tried it but according to my mom and friends who do them say they use them to lose weight and keep the weight off and for just over all heath and energy.

I have also heard that they can throw off the natural balance of your body and mess up your 'good' bacteria...

If you do try it you should let us know what you think!

I do them occasionally, and will continue to do them. You can find them at health food stores.

"Garden of Life" has a cleanse that doesn't irritate the intestines, the fiber is from pea pods. I just finished it, and loved it! (I can't tolerate psyllium, it bloats me and gives me gas pains.)

I did Colonix and Toxinout for 3 months. I think that it is overkill - I would do Colonix for 2 months and Toxinout for 1 month. And I swear by it! My hubby roped me into it and I didn't want to but it was the best thing I had done. My IBS from my gallbladder surgery went away and I had lots of intersting things come out (I know! I know! TMI!) Anyway I plan on doing it again in Feb or March for 1 month and do it every year after for 1 month. And the powder tastes really good! (was drinking it in orange juice so I am not sure how water would taste but im sure it would be ok too)

I'm really excited to start this program.. anyone who wants more information check out www.drnatura.com . it really addresses some of the issues other people on this posting have had. I also researched consumer reports on it and comparison studys. I think overall it will just add to my weightloss and health. Good luck everyone.. I will let everyone know how it goes when I do!
