| I'd like it if someone could point out anyone here - of the tens of thousands of members of ADBB- who lost 2.5lbs a week consistantly for a total of 125lbs of loss in a single year. Is it safe? I think that's pretty debatable, really. I mean, in theory? Yeah. I think it's safe. Practical? Nope. Probable? ![]() ![]() It seems to me that stories like this are so far and away the exception to *any* health conscious rule. Chalk me up to a big fat

| I think it is definitely safe. Those are the people that make us have to look at the little tag... *results are not typical* Why are they not typical? Because few have that kind of determination. I plan on having it so maybe I will be the first.

| There was a gentleman on here that lost 100 pounds in 4 months. He never specifically said how he did it but I doubted it was by eating "properly".

| Well Griff, I stand corrected - and well done!! I know this is going to sound kinda creepy - and it's really not my intention. After losing about 70lbs in a year (and that's with never cheating and working out regularly, tyvm) I'm here to say it's not only about how bad you want it.....but I digress. Gaining and losing weight doesn't impress me anymore. There's no real magic to it. Wanna impress me? Lose the weight (be it 10lbs or 200lbs) and keep it off for at least three years. Statistics say that losing it and keeping it off for 5 years is an endeavor with a 95% failure rate. I'm one year from being one of those 5%. One year. And I'm gonna do it. I'm just not convinced that losing that kind of weight in that short of a period of time is necessarily mentally healthy. You may get away with it physically, but I know what losing 70lbs in a year did for me and in what areas it turned me upside down in. I thought it was great - until it took me a full year to lose the last 10. LOL I lost 23lbs in my first month. Was more than a little eye opening to have it take the next 11 to take off the next 52. Honestly, those first month or two losses don't mean squat in the marathon this is - it's the months that follow it that tell the true tale IMHO. I'll say it again: Physically healthy? Maybe - *if* done right - but I now know of only one on this board that says she did it -healthy- any others? Mentally healthy? Maybe. I know it makes you feel better fast and gives you lots of confidence. It also feeds that whole "Oh this is easy and comes easily so if I slip it's not a huge deal" train of thought. I'd be *really* interested to see the 5 year stats on people who do manage to lose that kind of weight in that period of time to see how many of them put 40 or more of it back on.
