| I'm taping the show at this moment. I'm curious to see what the panel has to say re: low carb WOL. Glenda

| I watched about half of it. It was interesting, though I would have liked it more if Gary Taubes could have talked more.

| Yeah, what was up with that? We've heard all that low fat and low calorie stuff for ages and people are still fat. The medical community really needs to take a fresh look at what's going on.

| Well Gary Taubes, Oprah's diet doctor, Gillian (From the Biggest Loser), a former contestant from TBL who has lost over 100 pounds, and another doctor whose name escapes me, was on the show. Pretty much Gary Taubes agreed with everything Dr. Atkin's had to say because he read the same information the good doctor did. He also added that he believes that Sugar is worse then tobacco and Carbs can cause cancer. Gillian was particularly annoying by stating that his theory's falls short because she's tried it. It was interesting but it would have been better if Gary didn't have Oprah's diet doctor and Gillian constantly attacking him. But to be fair he pretty much gave as good as he got.

| I thought the most interesting thing was when the guy Weil gave some praise to Taubes. I was thinking that this guys attitude might catch on a little. And by the end of the show they were all saying processed simple carbs should be avoided. I just read the transcript, but I thought it was a good show for Larry King. (maybe better because Larry was not actually there!??) And Gillians "you are wrong about exercise and diet because I tried it" was very weak. Yea several years of research is nothing compared to "I tried it". But she might be annoying to me if she called Atkins a genious.

| Bummer I missed that. Gillian is a good team builder, but agreed, you only come off as weak when you expect others to buy your perspective with blind faith.

| I watched about half of it and had to turn it off. At first he sounded like an Atkins wanna be but I just couldn't buy his theory on excersize. And the way everyone was talking over each other really got on my nerves. I wasn't i mpressed at all.

| His theory on exercise is just what he sees in the research. Exercise alone has very little benefit for weight loss. That confirms what I have seen in my own life. The key to my weight is what I eat, not how much I exercise. He is probably much more respected than Atkins was. He may actually be able to do some serious mind changing as far as low-fat/low-carb understanding goes.
