Default Nyah, nyah, nyah!!! :)

I am having a very good morning.

Generally my doing Atkins is met with a lot more acceptance than a lot of the folks who post. I am lucky in that respect.

One of my girlfriends here is on weightwatchers. She has nothing against Atkins, but says she could never do it herself.

This morning we compared breakfasts.
She had a large bowl of cardboard-bran-type cereal, with skim milk, and coffee, again, with skim milk. She was a little grumpy, was moving on to coffee #2 and thinking about lunch.

I had a scrambled egg in butter with Boursin cheese crumbled in, a slice of Arnold flax fiber bread toast with foie gras spread on it, and tea with heavy cream. I am not hungry.

I have lost more weight.

lol-I've done WW too. People on it are ALWAYS grumpy and the diet never works. I was constantly hungry on it and it didn't last very long.

Give me Atkins any day.

I just wouldn't have the patience it takes to see results on WW. People are like, I lost 60 pounds in 12 months on WW!!! um, so what. I lost 70 lbs in 7 months on Atkins.

Anytime I have ever been on a low-fat diet, I've always wanted to devour the refrigerator! On Atkins, however, I sometimes forget to eat lunch (because I have such a hearty breakfast, and I get busy doing something else besides plan my next meal).

In 1989, I signed up for Nutri-System (back when they had walk-in storefronts, like Jenny Craig). I spent over $2000 and STARVED myself to lose 130 lbs. in one year (279 down to 149). It was like being in jail. I ate their pre-packaged tiny meals and supplemented them with salad, a small red potato at night (!) and skim milk. Once I "got out of jail," I had a very difficult time trying to figure out how to eat in the real world, and the pounds came piling back on (and then some, of course). Plus, I was severely protein-deficient, and my hair was coming out in massive quantities. This was just one of my many "diet disasters," and the disasters were all low-fat.

Now, I'm eating protein-rich, sugar-free, satisfying REAL food, and I'm losing at about the same rate as I did back then. I know this is the true eating plan that I can follow for the rest of my life.

My sister lost lots of weight on WW. I started with her at the same time and did lose some weight but it didn't take me long to give up. I felt cravings all the time, everything tasted off kilter somehow even though I love those types of food, and after being allowed to have sweet stuff that became the mainstay of my ww diet. Now that I see the affects that just a little bit of sugar does to me it's like woa! No wonder I couldn't stay on that. I was primarily eating pasta, bread, starchy veggies. Every bite of that stuff was kicking off an addiction binge.

Ha ha - not fancy all the time. I had to take my daughter to a "drop off" birthday party in another town on Saturday, and then basically linger in the area for an hour and a half before picking her up. I figured I might as well be productive and get the shopping done, but the only market nearby was Roche Brothers (similar to Gelsons or Bristol Farms on the West Coast). Roche Brothers is the upscale market around here (though gotta admit the stuff is sooooooo good).

Aside from the regular stuff, I got 3 imported cheeses, nutella, fresh squeezed orange juice, and, as an Atkins friendly treat, a small foie gras pate with black truffle. I am finally allowed a little bread here and there, and so can finally eat pate or smoked salmon without its being too rich. I ate it at breakfast simply because that's when I had the toasted bread.

Eh, I am making this all up. I have champagne, caviar and foie gras every morning for breakfast. My butler brings it to me in bed.
