Default Re: Halloween

I understand. The cravings are rough for me when I see it but especially when I smell it. This weekend people all around me were eating things that were almost beyond what I could handle. I heard the "you can have one bite" and "one bite won't kill you" at least 4 times. Each time I wanted to cave in but didn't. Instead I drank a diet coke. It had caffeine in it which isn't good but it was the only diet selection there. I haven't had anything with caffeine in it since I started last month. I felt more luxurious drinking my "naughty-to-me" diet coke than they did eating all their stuff.

Halloween.........baw humbug!

No, I love it! It's my favorite holiday, or almost. The candy is killing me too. Avoiding it thus far. Hang tough people, we can make it through this. You know you can't eat "just one".......so don't do it!!!

I 2nd that Bah-hum bug! Ugh...I can't stand the sight of the candy in the stores. I'd like to smack the candy makers and store distributers and managers who think they'll sale more candy if the line the isles with them. Ugh! Run away!!! Run away!!!

Let's keep in mind Dr A's "One Kiss of Death" to our way of eating with that "just one" thought. Okay?

Don't you touch that candy!
Just imagine me poking you with my pitchfork every time you eat a piece. Menacing, eh?

we have it a bit easier at our house. We started when the oldest was just a baby having her only keep 10 pieces of candy after trick or treating. The rest the Great Pumpkin takes and gives to sick children that couldn't go out. The Great Pumpkin leaves a cool toy in place of the candy and we throw the candy away. Less temptation is always good.

Wow that is really cool. I may just have to steal that though I would prefer to find someone to really give the candy to. That might be easier said then done though. hmmmm

I agree with grant, i'd rather find someone to give the candy too if i had to deal with it (no kids here..), i just dropped $50 in chocolate and candy, i'd hate to think it was getting thrown out?

One thing i do on Halloween that makes it a bit easier is I buy the little plastic halloween lootbags from the dollar store and put a few candies in each...then i use the twist ties and seal them up. that way each kid gets the same amount, and it's much harder for me to put my hand in the bowl and help myself . Tonight I did 75 bags, with about 7 candies in each, mostly stuff i don't like: starburst, gummy fangs, popeye candy sticks etc (though there's dairy milk and caramilks in there yum!). only took 45 mins. When the weathers nice i sit out on the verandah with a witches hat on and hand them out when there's alot of kids. that also stops me from boredom and temptation.

When my stepdaughter was young..one year she got a toothbrush, and she would always get a few halloween pencils or erasers etc. with dollarstores now adays there are alot of other things you can hand out besides candy that aren't very expensive.

Mothette,
When I was at work Sunday there were BAGS and I mean BAGS upon bags of every chocolate bar in the world. I'm a big chocoholic so it was hard for me so I just went to the vending machine and bought a diet dr. pepper. I hadn't had diet soda for almost two weeks so it tasted great!! Nice and cold and it helped curb my sweet tooth. There are some twix bars and butterfingers in the cupboard for Halloween tomorrow. I was thinking of getting some more diet soda (caffeine free with splenda) and maybe making some low carb fudge to help me stand my ground! LOL!
