| Yes that was also on my local news. My husband gave me the eye when we were watching this and i just rolled my eyes. Maybe I should contact the station also. Maybe if enough people did this, they would get their facts straight before any more report on Atkins.

| I also heard the report. I believe it is all about money. As the other programs realize that they are losing credibility trying to sell 'expensive meals', 'memberships' and 'book sales'...they are desperately trying to veer people from using a program that bases its success on using natural foods and exercise. My husband used to be concerned with me following Atkins, but after over 3 years and 120+ pounds, we now laugh when we listen to the medical studies and negative reporting.

| This so-called "study" makes my blood boil! First of all, a grand total of 26 people were put in this study, and only 18 finished it. Secondly, the people WERE NOT ALLOWED TO LOSE WEIGHT! According to the study, if anyone's weight varied by 2.2 lbs, the diet was adjusted. In my mind, this is NOT being on any of the diets, Atkins or otherwise. Atkins states plainly in his book that if cholesterol levels are elevated at all during this diet, it is at best temporary and at worst it is the "good" HDL levels that are elevated. I might add that Atkins and numerous other studies reveal that high triglyceride levels are a much better indicator of heart disease than high cholesterol levels. I just can't believe that people will buy into this garbage, and I really hope that my tax money didn't fund this "research."

| It's already being discussed in this thread... http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=51068 (Oh boy. I received this article on the diet) Basically,.. 1. The study cited is a preliminary study which wasn't peer reviewed. 2. The amount of carbs on the Atkins group was too highm around 140g a day.
