Default From kimkins to adkins Questions

hey guys I’m coming back to Adkins... i was on Kimkins for 5 months and lost 60lbs (I still have 15lbs more to go) but after some medical concerns i feel God is telling me to back off the Kimkins diet so here i am.

I'm going to be honest i have not stopped the Kimkins yet because of fear of gaining some weight back and with only 15lbs to go i did not want to blow this and then look back saying "i was so close" I have my goal set at 165lbs at best but i would be completely fine with 170lbs so this is my question for those who came back to Adkins… did you experience weight gain after switching back to Adkins after being on kimkins?

Before your post I had never heard of Kimkins but I did go to the website and I see that it is low-carb and low-calorie. Of course the major difference on Atkins is that you will be able to eat more calories and more fat. How many calories a day are you eating right now and are you hungry a lot?

i have been eating maybe 400 cal on Kimkins (which is very, very low) and the hunger has really never been a issue. Although here recently I have been having some hunger issues but that’s another question.

i did Adkins before the Kimkins diet so i kind of know my way around the Adkins diet

400 calories a day...OMG. How are you still standing? You are literally starving yourself. If I were you I'd get on Atkins quickly and start feeding your body asap.

I also found this online.

What Are the Potential Problems with Kimkins?

The diet is very low in fiber, essential fatty acids, and many nutrients. This is essentially a starvation diet, which does not contain many of the basics for life, let alone optimal life. A multivitamin and mineral tablet is recommended, but this ignores phytonutrients, essential fatty acids, and other nutrients. In lieu of fiber, or even fiber supplements, Kimmer recommends laxatives, a potentially dangerous practice if taken on a regular basis. It's very low in calories. Diets that are extremely low in calories do not work in the long run. Eventually, the need for survival takes over and appetite increases. In the meantime, many health problems can result. Very low-calorie diets should only be undertaken under the close supervision of a physician, if at all. Additionally, much of the weight coming off during such a regimen will not be fat, but muscle and other lean body tissue.

What Is the Controversy around "Kimmer" Herself All About?

In addition to the mysteries about her identity, "Kimmer" has been accused of many practices which have riled people up, including:
  • Banning members (who have paid money) from her website if they disagree with her.
  • Blaming people for not being strict enough if they don't continue to lose weight very quickly (up to a pound per day). People eating only 400 calories per day have reportedly been encouraged to continue.
  • Sheltering people who show signs of eating disorders, and encouraging them to keep going (or at least not intervening with their self-descriptions of eating very little).
Blogs from banned members and people who have suffered health consequences of the diet are popping up all over the Internet.

I can honestly tell you that if I had not been in over weight He!! I would have never done the kimkins diet but that’s the problem and she is profiting off all these people stuck in overweight He!!.

I am one of those people that got banned for disagreeing with her, everything bad you hear about her diet is true.

Good for you for making a HEALTHY choice by coming back to Atkins.

Kimmer is a real piece of work- a b!tch, a thief, a liar, a fraud - and that's me trying hard to be politically correct and nice. She has not only not lost the weight on her own program but has berrated people for YEARS for not being able to stick to her sham of a eating program that has caused a lot of people some major health issues - the least of which isn't delving people into her "Kimorexia" school of thought (a very slippery slope for people who already deal with eating disorders)...ugh while advocating laxative abuse and having *no* educational background at all with which to base her idiocy on. I could go on and on but I won't. Look?! It makes me so mad I start with the run-on sentences. LOL

I hope the class action lawsuit nails her @ss to the wall for what she's done and I hope she gets nailed for the fraud she perpetuated against people - right down to and including the donations she took for foster kids she didn't have!! *snarl*

Several of us have locked horns over the years with her - yours truly being one of them. I tried to be nice a long time ago and then figured her out. Thanks but no thanks. *snarl*

That said, get thee a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution and read it back to front, front to back and then read it again.

If you haven't found a support place for other Kimkins refugees, fire me a pm and I can tell you where they're congregating. Also know that you've found *the* most dedicated website on the net to the Atkins WOE right here and we welcome you with open arms.

Start with the FAQ's and stickies around here - and if you haven't gone to see a doctor to make sure your health didn't suffer while torturing yourself with Kimorexia, please do so. You're worth making sure you're okay.

(((Hugs)))

Welcome to ADBB

~Brook
