Default 12 days and I haven't lost a pound! WHY?

Hello, I have been on the diet for 12 days and I show that I am in moderate to the second from high levels of ketosis and have been for about 5 days now. But I haven't lost even 1 pound :-( I am getting sooooooo upset because I have been so dedicated to this. Please help me before I give up on this diet all together. I started this diet instead of weight watchers because I heard that you are supposed to lose weight fast. But when I was on weight watchers before I had my kids I had lost 5 pounds by now. Why does everyone seem to lose so much weight in the first two weeks and I am not?

Thank you!
Lisa

Hey Lisa
Don't dispair.... it sometimes takes a while for it to kick in and then all of a sudden, whoosh, it goes. You'll read a lot of posts on this board about the good and bad of becoming attached to your scale. It's not a great tool, simply because our weight can fluctuate so much from day to day, so becoming obsessed with what the scale says is a risk. Have you taken your measurements? If not, do so now because that's likely where you're going to see the biggest change. And in the size of your clothes. You'll be really pleased that you've recorded your starting measurements because it's pretty amazing to look back on those once your weight starts coming off. Also, If you're exercising, you're building muscle mass which weighs more than fat. Fat just takes up a lot more space! Are you drinking a lot of water? The water guideline is 64oz + 8oz for every 25lbs you want to lose. Stick with it and I'm sure a lot more members will pop in to give you some pointers too.

Hi and welcome.

First of all, what is your current height and weight? This will help us out considerably in trying to figure what's happening to you. See during the first 2 weeks of Atkins we can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose. So a person with a 10 pound weight loss goal, can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 pound, while a person with a 100 pound weight loss goal can expect to lose 5-10 pounds.

Second, post your menues in the "Review My Menu Forum". Be sure to include the amounts (ounces, cups, tablespoons, etc.) of what you have been eating. And also include what you have been drinking.

Third, have you been exercising?

here's what I did, if you took a before pic, take another right now in the same outfit, in the same spot, in the same position, and compare it to the first one.. I had a problem with the scale moving in the begining too, but the pics were worth a thousand words when I compared them... don't give up, you'll see lots of posts about the whoosh fairy on here, one day I woke up weighed myself and overnight 12 lbs were just gone..just don't give up!

it would be helpful to post your menu,(your full menu, sometimes things like even kethup, can have lots of hidden carbs), you might be getting hidden carbs you don't know about

How much water are you drinking with the ATKINS diet? The diet says drink 8 glasses of 8oz of water which totals only to 64oz. I think its best to drink at least a gallon of water a day to help flush oyur system of toxins and hydrate very well at the same time.

How much diet soda? Diet sodas may be on the acceptable list but NOT ALL diet sodas are acceptable. I just found out that Diet 7up has aspertame. So make sure you check the ingredients.

Hi Lisa, to do this you need to add the info to your signature block.
Click on the 'User CP' link at the top of the forum page then choose 'edit signature' and add it. This is where you can also add pictures and challenge certificates etc.
