| They have lots of different cheeses, Emma, as well as mayo with less carbs than Hellmans (0.9 carbs per 100 gr) and really nice double cream. If you can eat nuts without portion control problems they have a nice selection including macadamias which were Dr Atkins preference i think.

| I shop a lot at Lidl, but don't buy those sausages, not because of anything in them, I'm just not mad about that sort of sausage. They have some good salamis too, though some have sugar. There is usually a reasonable and well priced choice of veg, including Daikon, which I can't get anywhere else. Their avocados are good and very cheap. They also do bags of frozen chicken breasts on the bone and with the skin on, which are a great freezer standby. I also buy dried herbs and spices, bacon bits, cheese, bags of frozen prawns and cold meats. They don't always have them but they do these frozen shellfish kebab type things with butter that are seriously yum. On the non-food side they have the best black bin bags and the best tin foil anywhere. I know it's not on your list now, but for future reference they have a champagne called Grand Prestige Premium Cuvée Brut which is divine and fantastic value - it's not sweet, very dry actually and is the one I got sloshed on before Christmas. The hosts of that party went though an onerous week before hand tasting various champagnes, and it won by a mile although it was by far the cheapest.

| Daikon looks like a big white carrot and you can treat it, eat it and cook it pretty much any way you would carrot. I grate it and use it instead of carrot in coleslaw, which works really well - that's my favourite use for it.

| Back to your original question about sausages. We have an Aldi about 10 miles away from me, everytime I am out in that direction I pick up a couple of packs of their Bratwurst. They are really meaty and from memory hardly any if any at all, fillers. there are only two reasons I go to Aldi, bottled water (.89p for 4 x 2 litre bottles) and the aforementioned sausages.

| I remember Aldi! They had them in my old neighborhood. Their produce was super cheap, but I don't remember eating their sausages. Might have to make a trip to see my parents and buy some groceries. |
