I hear you on the junk although I think I spend more now on atkins friendly stuff. I wouldn't trade it though. I feel 100% better and thats what matters most to me. Is that your cat or just a pix from online? Thats a big cat doesn't even look like a regular house cat. I love cats.

wow I always find it amazing the ones who say their shopping bill went down. I dunno all the crap I used to eat must have been cheaper such as hamburger helper etc. Plus I live with non low carbers who think they gotta have the usuals and my kids go through milk like we own a cow.

Actally when I did have a cow there was just a little less than enough milk for a day. lol. Chickens on the other hand are not something I reccommend fresh. Yah the food bill went down to roughly 70 every 2 weeks because I only buy now what I actually need. I would have normally been buying doritos, cakes, brownies, liquor, breads, baklava, ice creams.... its just amazing. I do however see what you mean about it going up though. When I didn't plan my meals I was spending more at first but now that I plan my meals I know exactly how much to buy of what. My most expensive thing is veggies as I WILL NOT eat canned. Its either frozen (blanched) or fresh. I usually spent fortune just in eating out and gettng junk

You know, I think I save a bit on this WOE since I don't buy sodas, chips, chocolate, cereal and other items anymore. I also used to spend quite a bit on Zone and Balance "nutrition" bars thinking they were "healthier" for me for a snack. I hit up Sam's about once a week for veggies, meats, cheeses, cream, eggs etc. and I think buying stuff this way (in bulk) also saves a bit. Plus, it means I always have yummy fresh veggies staring at me when I open the fridge

I can only do certain frozen veggies such as cauliflower & broc. I can't stand frozen green beans I don't know why but they taste really fake to me. lol I'm weird I guess. I was raised on canned food so its what I am used to. I do buy a lot more fresh veggies than I ever did before. Yes I hit up sams yesterday but I can't afford to buy in huge bulk quantities. I basically only get a few things there not sure if its even worth the $ I pay to be a member since I go maybe three times a year. I was looking for davinci syrup there because I've heard it mentioned that they have it but I didn't see any and walmart only has vanilla and hazelnut in the coffee isle. I have to get better with my grocery budget my dh lost about 500.00-600.00 a check from them cutting back his overtime. Thats a huge difference when you are used to the extra especially with my kids. Son can eat you out of house and home and he's only 2. lol I got the bulk romaine salad leaves at sams yesterday and it's 1/2 gone. lol I'm diggin salads at the moment. I wish I had another bag full. I was buying the spring mix but got something extremely bitter last time. So I think I'll stick with this for now.they have a HUGE plastic container of pork rinds. I didn't buy them but for someone who uses them a lot (not me) it would be a good investment. sorry for hijacking your junkfood thread Mirya. I like reading about how people shop and stuff gives me ideas. oh and we are in the process of getting chickens not for eating but for eggs. Its hard to find them at the moment. My dad has some but he's mia at the moment who knows when I'll see him. heh I was raised around goats, pigs, chickens etc so I think or hope I can handle chickens. heh
