Default Cosmetic Surgery *sigh*

Well, I think I'm at that point. I've lost basically all the weight I'm going to, and even if I lose more, there's some parts of me that just won't go away. I have the dreaded "bingo wings" (the loose skin/hanging fat under your arms). I've always had them, even when I was a teen and skinny, but of course age and putting on/taking off so much weight made it worse. I think it's partly genetic.

So, I have a consultation in one week with a doctor here in Seoul. He has good credentials, is a leader in his field, studied in the US (among other places) and speaks very good English. Of course, I'm still very scared. If I get it done, it will be the first weekend in February, so very soon.

There are all sorts of web site with cosmetic surgery info and stuff, but I'd like to hear from anyone here that's had any work done. There's simply no way this loose skin is going away on its own, and there's a lot of it - to the point where my kids (I teach Kindergarten) ask me, "what this?" and grab my arm when I wear any kind of short sleeves. And I'm only 26.

I guess I'm just looking for any positive personal experience or encouragement at this point. All the cosmetic surgery web sites I've been on have done much more to instill dread than excitement, although I know the recovery/pain will be bad for awhile.

I havn't had the kind of surgery that you are asking about...sorry. I was wondering what type of exercises you are doing though. Weight lifting doesn't get at sagging skin but some other types of exercise can help because they work with small palsing motions. Years ago I did something called Callanetics and it really tightened things up.

Good luck.

hi. i do not know the extent of your "wings" so i am not advocating surgery or not.....just thought i'd add to the exercise idea that before my wedding i really wanted to tone my arms...my dress was sleeveless. i did slim in 6 and lost and firmed about 1.5 inches from each arm.

all i know about surgery is the experience a friend of mine had. she lost so much weight they had to do some skin removal. i guess it was quite an involved process planning for the surgery but it went well and she surprisingly went back to work a couple of weeks earlier than she had planned.

great before and after pix! good luck with whatever you choose to do.

hi,

I don't have any advice either, though I'm sure someone will. I just wanted to say wow, you look like a different person in those photos. You look great

Thanks for the replies and compliments. I don't want to bore anyone with my list of exercises, but basically I train in women's boxing (well enough to be an amature) and train 5 nights a week in ballroom dance.

There may be a little extra fat in my arms, but basically what I need removed is all sagging skin. From what I've read, there's no real fix for extremely excessive sagging skin in that area. Even before the weight gain and loss, when I was a teenager, I have never worn a tank top or a swimsuit without a shirt over it because I've been so embarrassed about my arms - and this was a 16 year old that was 5'6" and 135 lbs. When my kids comment on my arms now, it's when I'm wearing a teeshirt, so it's pretty bad.

I don't know, I guess I just want to be able to wear a tank top for once in my life while I'm still young.
