| It's probably the exercise. I find when I exercise hard, even if I drink a LOT, I'll be darker color on the sticks. As long as you KNOW you are gettin enough water, dont worry about it.

| Okay thanks! I got so worried because I get UTI's very easy and I did NOT want to go through a bladder infection right now. Oh and I was confused too, I thought the more you exercised, the more would be used and the lighter the sticks would be. No wonder! I had it backwards. Can producing this many ketones make you weak feeling?

| Okay, here's some answers I found on the web.. and it may be because of the exercise you want to up the water a bit more or consider testing away from meal times where your fat intake may darken the color (so says the info below): "Testing in the darkest purple range all the time is usually a sign of dehydration -- the urine is too concentrated. You need to drink more water to dilute it, and keep the kidneys flushed. The liver will make ketones from body fat, the fat you EAT, and from alcohol --- the ketone strips have no way of distinguishing the source of the ketones. So, if you test every day after dinner, and dinner usually contains a lot of fat, then you may very well test for large amounts of ketones all the time. However this does not indicate that any BODY fat was burned. The strips only indicate what's happening in the urine. Ketosis happens in the blood and body tissues. If you're showing even a small amount, then you are in ketosis, and fat-burning is taking place. Don't get hung up on the ketone sticks. "

| Thanks for looking that up Brittney! It must be the fat in my meals because I am drinking 3 liters of water a day and not taking in anything (that I know of) that is a diuretic effect to make me lose too much fluid. But my fat content has been high lately so I bet that is it. Thanks again! I believe I will up my fluid to four liters a day. |

| Hey! I learned something, too. I'm starting Induction (uh-gain) tomorrow and picking up more ketostix and its nice to know when I can better aim to test myself around my meals to ensure a better reading!

| Mine was so dark, I was checking it several times a day at different times noting that it was still very dark. It just kinda concerned me. I feel a lot better about it now. |
