I was just wondering what you would eat differently on South Beach, that you think would make you lose faster than you are losing now? I've read both books, and am just curious. Now, while all of us lose at a different pace, I would like to offer you a glimpse into my world. I weigh once a week (on Sunday), and have kept a record of every weigh in since my re-start at 187. I've just taken a look at my notebook, and see that on my weigh-in on 6/10/07 I weighed 157 (your starting weight). I reached my goal of 125 (your goal weight) on 11/11/07. That means it took me 5 months to lose that weight. Seeing as you have not completed a full month on Atkins yet, I think you could give it a little more time to see if it is right for you. Even though I had a lot more weight to lose than you did (re-started at 187), I only lost 9 pounds in my first complete month on Atkins last year. I lost 5 pounds the first week, 2 pounds the second week, and only 2 pounds total for the rest of the month. So, you are doing very well! I will be first one to admit that Atkins isn't for everyone, but you really aren't losing slowly, so I don't want that to be the reason you leave. If you are unhappy with how you feel or don't like the food, that is another story... but you really aren't losing slowly. So, tell me... I'm curious... what would you eat differently on South Beach that would make you lose faster? |

| You know we each have to find what works for us and if your not happy with Atkins then South Beach might work better for you. I can tell you that you won't lose any faster on South Beach than Atkins and visa versa or any other plan. Our bodies do what they please when they please and we have to be happy what we got. More exercise helped me but as you see by my stats, I am losing very slowly. |

| Some of us will go weeks and not lose any weight at all then in one week 3 or 4 pounds will fly off. I have read that as your body rids itself of fat the cells hold water in its place for a while then finally the water flushes out and the scale drops. Don't know it that is actually what happens but it sure seems like it.

| Have you been taking measurements? For me, I haven't lost much the past year (I go up/down 2-3 pounds) but I've continued to lose a few inches. My life schedule keeps changing and my exercise routine as well. I stay motivated by knowing that I'm not gaining inches and I'm still wearing size 12 and sometimes size 10 clothes (as opposed to the 24/26 size that I wore before starting Atkins. Its up to you if you want to stop and start another program ~ and if you do...I wish you the very best of luck. However before you do...make a plan and stick to it. As a previous yo-yo dieter, I know that each new diet that I attempted and didn't feel was working for me came extra burden of frustration and doubt. Weight loss is a very personal and individual decision for each of us. When I feel as you do now, I try to alter my routine. Whatever you decide - keep a positive attitude and make a plan to succeed. You can do it, and we will always be here for you if you need us.
