| You need to read the book Mitch, it'll help you in a lot of ways. For Atkins to reall work for life, you have to change your life and your relationship with food. There's a lot of good info here on the boards and you'll get great helping hands here, but you need to go read the book!

Hey Mitch, Glad you made the decision to start Atkins, I do agree with Ron you should read the book, it is very important. If you are looking for ideas, you can check out my journal, I have exactly what I ate and drank during induction. Good Luck.

I have a well read copy but what I will tell you this, you have to get a copy of the acceptable (food) list and print it off. (I think they still have it somewhere on this board) Then eat only what is on that list for the next two weeks AND don't go over a 20 carb limit (If you stick to the list that would be hard to do) Now if you want to eat a pound of bacon, its fine, its on the list, but some of the stuff is limited, like heavy cream and cheese and veggies. Veggies are important, you have to eat 2-3 cups a day and that is where most of your carbs will come from. After the two weeks come on back and let us know how its going

Yes, you should read the book. But let's face it, we don't all have the time to do that. So my suggestion is to go to Atkins.com and look at the information on induction. http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkin...se-1-induction Here is the acceptable foods list -- http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkin...ceptable-foods Here are the rules of induction -- http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkin...s-of-induction And don't eat any bars, shakes, or other "low-carb" products. ONLY what is on the list. Good luck! If you do it right, it really works.

A good way to read the book----and don't laugh-----stick a copy on top of the toilet tank and work your way through it every time you go to do your daily constitutional

You dont need to read the entire book right now, take it a section at a time. Read the induction section first - this will give you understanding how to do the diet. Then near the end of the 2 week induction read the section about OWL. This will give you an idea if you want to move on to the next stage or do an extended induction. As you progress through OWL read the pre-maintenance and maintenance sections. Essentially though you are gonna want to read the book. Its not just an instruction manual but a guide for this WOE. Its what we all use on this board and it seems like the only reason why people have failed on this WOL is because they didn't read the book, didn't understand the diet, got bored and quit.
