Default Carbs in vegetables!!(Confused)

Hi there everyone!!

I am currently doing the extended Incuction as i was not counting my carbs properly on Induction.

What i didn't relize is how high veg is in Carbs!
I have DR Atkins Carb counter and it says ;2 tbs of red pepper has3.3 net carbs...onion 2tbs 5.5 net carbs

Are these vegetables really that high in carbs...if so does anyone find that they stalled weight loss?

I love my vegetables so i will find this very hard.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

Thanks
Daniellexx

I dont think that can be right - at least not for them raw which is how we are supposed to count them on induction.

My DANDR (UK version) lists 100 grams of red peppers as having 3.3 net carbs and one whole onion as having 7.5 net carbs.

Try looking your veg up on the USDA database http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ instead.

Or open up a free 'account' at www.fitday.com which gets its info from the USDA database and will allow you to log all your foods as well as personal info.

Thank you so much Elizellen!

I will go onto that fitday, heard everyone talking about it but yet to try it.
I thought it was a bit much carb. The book i bought is the New cabohydrate counter by Dr Atkins to accompany the DANDR

Thanks again
Danielle

ARe you sure you are looking in the vegetable section and not the "herbs and spices" section? I'm asking because you typically don't measure red pepper or onions by the tablespoon.

PS my CCLL was 50 net carbs daily and I lost weight. So don't worry about eating "really" high amount of carbs----as long as your body can tolerate it, you will lose weight. Remember Atkins is a low carb diet, not a no-carb one and that any diet that contains less than 130 grams of carb daily is considered "low carb".

Hi there notolate!
Yes i was counting the vegetable section.
I think this book was waste of money.
i am going to use a few sites that Elizellen recommended, much better.
I am just hoping i won't stall with too much veg;if i count it i can't see a problem.
Thanks
Danielle
