| Hello Thinker, I once had Typ-2 Diabetes. When starting Atkins four years ago I was able to reverse it within 48 days. Along with essential supplements. Cinnamon was just one of the supplements. I took 500 mg a day and it brought my glucose down by 40 points. Other essential supplements to get glucose levels stablized are- Alpha-Lopic Acid- no known side effects Chromium Picolinate- helps stablize glucose levels. Pro-Biotics- for yeast problems Olive Leaf Extract- AntiFungul Noni Juice- normalizes glucose levels Grapeseed extract w/ Resveratrol- prevents damage to blood vessels Milk Thystle- helps liver process the glucose in blood stream. Make sure when you add supplement to any medication regimen that you monitor your blood glucose levels closely. Your levels will drop. Alway consult with your physician so that he monitors you closely aswell. I kept having to drop meds untill finally one day I no longer needed them. I was just informed by my physician last month that I am at no risk for Diabetes again. I have been Diabetes free now for almost 4 years. Thanks Atkins ![]() Best of health and lite to you Thinker. Sincerely, Sherri

| Here is some information that has helped me understand the use of cinnamon and cloves for insulin problems: Quote:

| Hi! Thank you guys so much! I'm not a diabetic - just a classic insulin resistant guy right out of Dr. Atkins book. So, I was thinking Cinnamon would make sense - since it is supposed to help fight insulin resistance. Does that sound about right?

| Wow what great info in this thread! I never knew about the insulin effect of cinnamon. ButI did know that Dr. Atkins and other medical personnel have said there is a direct correllation between certain spices including, cinnamon, curry, cumin and others to your metabolic rate. i understand most of these "hot" spices will boost the metabolism quite a bit. Put that together with the effect on insulin and I'll be off to buy some cinnamon casules today. |

Nevertheless - it seems to be good stuff and harmless - BUT I wouldn't take too much. Some of the websites say that super-large-doses can be toxic. (I saw studies giving people 3 grams - which is a ton - so I think large is relative). I've also started taking Alpha-Lipolic-Acid (sp?). An earlier poster mentioned the same stuff - it is supposed to have a similar effect. Thinker....

| I see from the article posted by Sunny Smiles that some herbals can affect prescription and non prescription drugs you are already taking too. I knew "drgus" could interact but did not know herbals had this affect as well. Do any of you have experience using cinnamon as a supplement while taking Celebrex? I would like to wean myself gradually off the clelebrex since it can have some side effects with long term use, but need it for now for bad knee arthritis. Would love to hear from someone with experience with both. |

| And I would like to ask if someone could recommend a good brand of cinnamon capsules (from eBay, for example). I'd love to get the best.

| I'm a Type 1 diabetic, and my opthamologist suggested taking cinnamon because it helps increase insulin sensitivity, thereby reducing my insulin dosage. It should have the same effect on insulin resistance. |

| I haven't shopped this, but I've been taking GNC's - those are just fine for me thus far.
