| I have a similar reaction to tomatoes but it's because I'm actually allergic to them. After the contamination has passed try them again and you may find that you still can't eat them.

| Salmonella usually causes intestinal upset, not fatigue. Are you aware that tomatos are PACKED with sugar? Maybe you were getting a sick feeling from the excess sugar, then feeling a low when the sugar has worn off.

| The symptoms you describe are not from salmonella. I agree you might have an allergy to tomatoes but definitely not salmonella poisoning. The actual salmonella outbreak has only affected 167 known people nationwide and has been confined thus far to 17 states. From the article: Safe states: "The FDA recommends consuming raw red plum, raw red Roma or raw red round tomatoes only if grown and harvested from these areas: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, Belgium, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Israel, the Netherlands and Puerto Rico." So for the most part, you are safe eating tomatoes, just do a little research to determine where they come from. In addition, the article states that homegrown and hot house tomatoes from those states are fine. |
