| you just have to pick urself up again and again and again...so many times i felt the exact same way you did, and then just one day (after a billion cheats) i told myself this is it! i bought a pair of jeans that i LOVED 2 sizes smaller and kept reaching for that goal and once i was in like 2 weeks, i didn't even think of cheating cuz i was planned my meals ahead of time...this has got to be the #1 reason i have not cheated. and when u feel the urge to cheat, grab a few olives or something else fatty...the craving goes away...you are doing this for yourself ...you know you want to feel good again... if i can do this, trust me, you can do this!!! xoxo

| I think Sirine gave you some good advise to follow. The things that helped me are to throw away all the foods with which you may be tempted to cheat and (this has helped me to focus on healthy food choices) read some books on food/nutrition. There are many out there that are informative but I've found Taubes (Good Calories) and Pollan (Omnivore's Dilemma) to be a great source on why our food supply is keeping us from our true potential. TWS ps. I've got a list of recommended books as long as my arm, those two stand out from the others as they are not 'diet' books but books on diet. |

| Just don't eat it. Get rid of all bad foods from your house. Don't shop when hungry and don't buy things you arent suppose to eat. I know it's mean (i do this to myself and it works) but every time you're about to eat something you shouldn't say to yourself 'i'm fat. If i eat this, I will always be fat. I will enjoy being thin much more than this ice cream'.

| You need to be strong mentally and once you convince yourself that you are, you will. I as well am a binge and junk food junkie eater. BIG TIME. However, I am slowly losing and feel very little cravings for cheat times. I've taken a month off from hard core Atkin's, (actuaaly 3 weeks), and have still managed to lose an additional 2 pounds. No exercise whatsoever. I simply read labels and am strong enough to resist temptations. It's fairly simple once your mind is set. You can do it. Get rid of all that junk in your house. Possibly, without looking at it, you'll be less likely to cheat and binge. Besides, once you get past the initial 3 days, your cravings should have subsided. Unless your not eating enough and go into hunger mode. Anyhow, get strong and stay strong. With a little bit of discipline you'll do fine. Good luck and God Bless, Joe |

| Make a little serving of legal ice cream just in case (but it is far better for you not to give in, it will make you stronger for next time) Take a third cup cream and a couple tbsp water, a dash vanilla or cocoa powder, and a tsp of Splenda and put it in two zippper sandwich bags (in case of leaks). Pop those bags in a gallon sized freezer bag filled with ice cubes and 4 TBSP salt (gotta have the salt or it won't work). Tehn keep shaking the bag around for about five mins and instant Low Carb ice cream. It is NOT low in calories so I don't advise making more than this size serving. When the cravings are going to send you off the deep end this is better than using the commercial stuff.

| Wow, Jill! Love the ice cream idea! Palms86, It's time to get tough with yourself. If you really want to lose the weight then you will stick to it! You have to decide what you want more- to be thin or to have that ice cream. If you are really ready to want to be thin more than you want the ice cream then it won't be nearly as hard to stay on plan. Of course temptations and cravings happen and for those times just be prepared. Have good, healthy, legal foods with you so when you are hungry and are craving ice cream you can have something else to satisfy you. Also try to give yourself a set of goals and rewards. I give myself money in a dedicated savings account for each pound lost that I get to spend on new clothes when I reach my goal weight. Other people have rewards such as a manicure when they've lost ten pounds or a new outfit. Someone is even buying a car when they reach goal! Make a list of the situations that are hardest for you, when you are most tempted to cheat and then make a list in advance of how to overcome those situations so you will be prepared when they come up. Look around this board for tips and for support. You can do it!

| I am surmising from your screen name that you are familiar with Psalm 86:7. When you are having a hard time staying on plan, just read that verse and really believe. I keep certain verses on my fridge and pantry door and read them when I am feeling weak and ready to cave in. Sunny!

| Palms, sometimes we really have to ask ourselves the hard questions--Am I really ready to do this and be committed to it? There have been times in my life when I have been ready, and times when my head wasn't in it. Those latter ones are the times I did exactly what you are doing. But asking the hard question, gets you closer to making a true, deep down, life shaking decision--that's a hard thing. Once you really decide to be ready, you can tackle this WOE with a much better attitude and the phrase "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" will mean something. A few hours of being really honest with yourself may give you the steel you need to continue. Or you may decide you aren't ready yet. It's all up to you. Wishing you luck with it. Jill

| Motivation is very personal. What works for one may not work for another. What works for me when I am tempted: Exercise - take a walk Music - turn it up and dance Phone - call a friend, especially one that knows you're on Atkins Imaging - close your eyes and picture yourself thin and full of energy Stickies - read the stickies on the forum...one of the most motivating (for me) is "What's your excuse". |
