| Maybe you should try following the diet to a T... it seems like you are just doing whatever you want too... it doesn't work like that ... if your always on induction then try doing induction the way its suppose to be used... so no more than 4 oz of cheese... and you aren't suppose to have nuts while your on induction, or soymilk and make sure you are getting enough vegetables... start writing down everything your eating and you will probably find out you might be getting more carbs than what you think... Try exercising too! hope I helped... good luck |

| first of all, 8 yrs on induction...i know dr A said that induction was safe to stay on for more than the recommended 2 weeks, but that just seems like an extremely long time to stay on induction. the Atkins plan has 4 phases for a reason, and induction is only the first phase to help the body detox from all the carbs, and to get the cravings down. i was just wondering why you have not moved on to the other phases by now. have you ever read the book "Dr. Atkins new diet revolution" 2002 edition? if not, then i think you really should read it. i believe in order to follow this plan to a T, then you have to follow all phases of the plan. you also mentioned that you are only eating chicken now and nothing else. that's not really doing atkins, that's doing a zero carb diet and we do eat carbs in this way of life. what type of veggies are you eating? 12 to 15 grams of carbs should be coming from veggies during the induction phase. not really sure i can help other then to tell you if you stick to the plan the way Dr. A wrote it, it will work. i wish you luck and i'm sure some more experienced members will be along shortly to offer more advice and suppoort. monie |

| Since losing 45 lbs this past year on Atkins my weight loss has slowed so much its almost stoped. I did the same as you did Atkins to a T for only 2 weeks saw nothing change and no loss some times I went up depending on holding water etc.... Then deceided that I need to give it a good try been on Atkins again for about a month now. The weight loss has been only about 3 lbs but I am losing. Its just harder now that I have about 30 lbs to go my body seems to be holding on to what it has left. I have noticed too that if I over eat alot it doesnt take much for a pound to be added to the scale even though I am still doing atkins. I guess it has to do with the amounts I am eatting. Good luck dont know if this will help but I say follow strict Atkins induction for longer than 2 weeks and see how it gos then. Good luck Robin

| Okay...preparing you for some reality talks with people here as we go by DANDR 2002 edition and try to be strict about it. I do question whether you did induction to a T since in your first sentence you say you have been on induction for 8 years and eating all the stuff not allowed on it. So maybe not the 2002 edition. Second I wonder if your body is rebeling. Third...why the heck if you know about Atkins would you cut out all fat and just eat protein? Did you know that excess protein is turned to fat?? Third...maybe new meds...getting older....get a check up....new food allergy...Good luck!

| ^what she said. excess protein is turned to fat. and eating just chicken and cheese isn't following atkins at all. Also people gain weight when they get older. |

| I would say any time someone experiences a sudden change like this for no apparent reason, they should be checked out by a doctor.

| Quote: As the others have stated, you have not been doing Atkins at all. The only advice I can give you is to get the book and read it and do the diet right. It sounds to me like you have been starving and your body has had enough. I do not reccomend that you do the fat fast again or ever. Any adult that has weighed 84 pounds for years certainly does not qualify as insulin resistant. Sunny!
