| YESSSSSSS! I LOVEEEEEEEEE surveys! 1. When did you start Atkins? August 2006 2. How many pounds overall do you want to lose? I'd like to lose 105 total from Atkins, though I was a bit heavier before I started, so my total loss would be something like 110. 3. How many pounds have you lost since starting? I had lost 100 at one point (down to 170) but now I'm at the 90 pound mark, since I'm around 180. 3. What is your favorite Atkins friendly food/snack/recipe? Mashed cauliflower, grilled chicken, taco salad, those AWESOME soy brownies that I never let myself eat! 4. What Atkins friendly food/snack/recipe are you burned out on and sick of? I'm not, because I eat different things all the time. 5. Any physical side effects-aside from weight loss- you've experienced (good or bad)? Good--better skin and nails, more energy, mental clarity. Bad--none! 6. What's the most common thing (uneducated) people tell you about your Atkins WOE? That it's unhealthy, that I'm going to die, that I can't survive on bacon and butter alone, that the carbs in bread are "healthy", that my kidneys are going to fail, that a "high-protein" diet is deadly... 7. Have you tried other programs to lose weight before Atkins, if yes which ones? Nope, I was never a dieter. And I'm still not! 8. Aside from Dr. Atkins NDR book, do you have any other Low-Carb favorite books? Well I have Atkins for Life, and Good Calories Bad Calories as well as DANDR. 9. What advice would you give to someone who is considering starting Atkins? Follow the plan by the book. Don't make up your own rules. If you do a half-assed plan you'll get half-assed results. 10. What NON atkins friendly food do you miss most? ICE CREAM AND COOKIES! Luckily they make LC ice cream and I have good recipes for LC cookies, but obviously, junk food is junk food so the only time I eat this LC stuff is around holidays. I used to eat the real thing daily. 11. What's your best tool for staying on track with this WOE when temptation arises? Have a high-fat snack handy, and I tell myself "It's not that I CAN'T have this, it's that I DON'T WANT this crappy food in my body." 12. Did or do you have any stalls, if yes what rungs/foods are or were the culprits? Lord, I've been stuck for a year, for various reasons. I had a yeast issue, I had some problems with dairy, I found out I have issues with grains, and in the past four months during marathon training, I gained about 15 pounds!!! 13. If you could sum up your Atkins experience so far in a few words what would they be? Totally life-changing and it's HEALTHY. Read the book!

| Cool...sounds like fun. It'll be great seeing everyone's responses. 1. When did you start Atkins? There's too many start dates since April 2003, so I'll just say this time around is May 2008. I went from 188 to 201 in record time and finally had enough and got back down to 197---pictures really tell the truth, so do my clothes...ugh. 2. How many pounds overall do you want to lose? 32 for now. I want to see 165. I was happy at 165 a long time ago. 3. How many pounds have you lost since starting? 6 (197 and today's 191)...it's a slow ride for me. I did extended induction for so long that I finally decided to start moving up the rungs to see what the fat would do. So far, so good. 3. What is your favorite Atkins friendly food/snack/recipe? chicken salad, chicken anything, fresh seafood, steak---meat and veggies and cheese. 4. What Atkins friendly food/snack/recipe are you burned out on and sick of? Eggs (oh, gosh, am I ever!) 5. Any physical side effects-aside from weight loss- you've experienced (good or bad)? Good has got to be my stamina, energy, and overall feeling great! Is doing the C25K a good thing? Well, it's helped with the good, any ways. Bad side effets? Well, I don't think there's anything bad at all. I haven't had any negatives issues. 6. What's the most common thing (uneducated) people tell you about your Atkins WOE? "You're eating too much fat!" "You're starving yourself!" "You're not eating enough calories!" "Manna fell from the sky---it's okay to eat it!" "You really shouldn't be eating THAT many vegetables" "This is another one of your phases you're going through..." 7. Have you tried other programs to lose weight before Atkins, if yes which ones? Gosh, is there enough cyber space to list them? A few popular would be: Weight Watchers and Cabbage Diet (Mayo clinic) and all veggies no meat or dairy (gosh, that was a horrid experience! I'm a devoted carnivore!). Wasted good money on the first one. 8. Aside from Dr. Atkins NDR book, do you have any other Low-Carb favorite books? I have a few cook books and I have a few health and fitness books Christian based for feeding the body, mind, and soul---breaking the addiction of food and knowing that even if manna fell from the sky, it's probably not for me since I'm not wandering in the wilderness for days straight. 9. What advice would you give to someone who is considering starting Atkins? Get your family involved. Plan ahead. Do NOT plan cheats. Getting off the Atkins bus is easy, staying on is harder but worth the effort you put in. It's true: you get out what you put in. Don't be afraid to try the rungs. Exercise. Find something that you like to do, and do it. You're cheating yourself out of losing inches, squishing fat cells, and feeling good over all by not exercising. Invest in sticky notes---cute ones, colorful ones, ones that you will use---write inspirational notes to yourself and reminders to stick on the fridge, bathroom mirror, rearview mirror in the car, any where you go. Invest in a journal and start keeping track of everything--good, bad, and ugly. And when you do jump off the Atkins bus, get right back on the very next meal---don't wait until Monday, the first day of the month, or year. 10. What NON atkins friendly food do you miss most? I can't even type it. I know in my mind that I miss it, but my butt, thighs, and belly tell me otherwise. 11. What's your best tool for staying on track with this WOE when temptation arises? Reminding myself that I am stronger person than I was 2 months ago. It's been a fight to get where I am today and the tempation is not worth the hard work I've put into it. I do bring string cheese and celery sticks in my purse when I'm out and about or heading to events so there's no excuse to give in. Be prepared for standing my ground with a statement of "No thank you" and leave it at that. 12. Did or do you have any stalls, if yes what rungs/foods are or were the culprits? In the past it's always been just overeating in the rungs. 13. If you could sum up your Atkins experience so far in a few words what would they be? Atkins should not be taken lightly. Educate, talk, do.

| 1. When did you start Atkins? Jan 15,2008 2. How many pounds overall do you want to lose? Ideally - 50 plus 3. How many pounds have you lost since starting? 31 and loving it!!! Thought I wanted to get to 150 but am going to reassess as the process continues. 3. What is your favorite Atkins friendly food/snack/recipe? I go through these phases where I have to have sweet red pepper or colby cheese or something very specific. Somedays it will be steamed broccoli with butter! Crazy, eh? 4. What Atkins friendly food/snack/recipe are you burned out on and sick of? Eggs.....scrambled, poached, boiled, fried, etc. 5. Any physical side effects-aside from weight loss- you've experienced (good or bad)? Higher sensitivity to certain foods that could really be called a "cheat" - ie popcorn. Also have headaches on and off. On the good side, my honey is grabbing what is left of my butt and thats a definite physical side effect! I am also in a better head space - feeling better about life and more in control and able to do what I want instead of what was limiting me before due to my weight issues. 6. What's the most common thing (uneducated) people tell you about your Atkins WOE? People make me laugh! They care enough to comment but not enough to get informed! Yes, this diet can be abused and misused, just like anything else in life. All I know is that it is the only way of eating that works for me and for that I am VERY grateful! 7. Have you tried other programs to lose weight before Atkins, if yes which ones? You name it and I have dabbled in it! 8. Aside from Dr. Atkins NDR book, do you have any i other Low-Carb favorite books? I try to read everything I can about health and wellness and basically try to understand the biological part of the body and diet , metabolism etc. This bulletin board has also been a life support for me many a time when I wanted to eat everything in sight! 9. What advice would you give to someone who is considering starting Atkins? 1. Understand where you are starting from and where you are wanting to go. Your WHY has to be huge and attainable. That "why" will motivate you when you want to give up. 2. Read the book, read the boards, and stay connected and accountable. 3. Determine from the onset that you are worth it and that that you are the only one that can make these changes and decisions. It is a daily, moment by moment thing. 4. Understand that it is not instantaneuos. Mitzimarie says it best - gradually, reallistically, consistently and finally! It is a process and takes grit and determination. You cheat, you will not lose an inch. 5. There is also a good thread the boards that I read about weight loss not being linear -meaning the numbers go up and the numbers go down. It would drive me nuts that the scale numbers werent always going down. They in reality fluctuate and knowing that made it easier in the morning! 10. What NON atkins friendly food do you miss most? Fruit and fresh sour dough bread! You can eat fruit but I chose to stay away from the ones with higher sugar count. 11. What's your best tool for staying on track with this WOE when temptation arises? DISTRACTION> I do whatever I can to do something else and distract my mind from wanting that stuff. Get moving, clean out a cupboard, read a book, take a bath, etc. 12. Did or do you have any stalls, if yes what rungs/foods are or were the culprits? Atkins shakes 13. If you could sum up your Atkins experience so far in a few words what would they be? LOVE IT ! It has given me back my skinny jeans!
