Default Full time ballet dancer... energy...

Hey everyone, I have started yesterday, and I am doing the "clean" induction.... Um, Even after just having breakfast yesterday without carbs I was soo tired. I dance 5+ hours a day (ballet) and I am wondering if it is normal to be really fatigued even just after one day. I have not cheated, and am on day 2. I have a full week of reahearsals, and then a some very important shows this weekend. I have never fainted in my life, but am worried that I might? I just don't want to faint on stage. I am not too sure what I am asking. Has anyone fainted? I have read that my energy should get better after a few days. I hope this is true.

Hello and welcome aboard!

The first few days you can get what we call Induction Flu. This is your body weaning itself off those loads of carbs. After a few days, you'll probably be feeling wonderful and full of energy.

If you find you still feel out of sorts and tired, try eating veggies that are slightly more carb dense, to raise the number of carbs just a bit.

Are you taking supplements?

Hang in there! It's so worth it.

I second Sally's suggestion of making sure you get more carbs by choosing veg other than just lettuce

With so much activity, you are pretty sure to be tired the first few days. Your body is having to learn a whole new way of getting energy from food to fuel your body. Be kind and supply a lot of fat from a good source, like extra virgin olive oil, real butter or coconut oil.

Make sure you are getting plenty of calories so your body doesn't think it's starving. You should spread out your veggie carbs out through the day.

It only takes a few days to switch over to burning fat for fuel instead of glucose, so just hang in there because you will probably burn up the glucose you have stored more quickly than most.

Drink lots of water while you are detoxing!

Kellerina, Judging from your photos you are only a couple pounds from goal weight. If your exercise needs are so high with your dancing, you need to be sure you are getting enough energy to not burn muscle and not fat. May I ask, have you measured your body fat? Also, are you prepared to stay on this way of eating for life? or are you looking to drop a few pounds quick. If you are only looking to drop a few pounds, and don't intend to stay on a low carb lifestyle then this may backfire.

I am not saying this is the case, but your photos show a thin, fit woman. So I am not sure what your longterm goal is with respect to your weight loss. Also, high demand exercise and Induction flu may not mix well. I totally understand your concerns in this. I think you have reason to be concerned given the demands you make on your body each day.
