| Michelle, honestly when I read your post over the weekend that mentioned your goal, I thought to myself that it was a little unrealistic, but didn't want to rain your parade. Honestly, people are generally more successful (and less frustrated) around here when they don't set time goals. Weight loss on Atkins isn't always linear. You might lose nothing for 3 weeks, and then wake up one morning 4 pounds lighter. I suggest either setting a much more realistic goal -- like 165 -- or simply setting a goal to be 100% ON PLAN between now and your birthday. THAT's something you KNOW you can control -- and it just might end up giving you the results you want (or close to it) afterall.

| Most of the successful people on this board seem to put down goals WITHOUT a date, adding the date AFTER they reach each one.

| I had a sneaky suspicion that I was being unrealistic...Thanks for your honesty. I tend to get a little over-excited and then dissappointed, so it will be good to to step off that roller-coaster early in the game. I like the suggestion of making a goal of staying 100% On Plan until the birthday. I know I can do that, even if I don't know how my body will respond to it. thanks again, Michelle ps--It's pretty darn great to have all of you to bounce ideas off of. This is the first time I've ever used any kind of internet forum for suppport, and I absolutly LOVE it! You all are the best!

| But even if you dont hit 160 its still worth it to try.. You will still be that much closer! You just dont want to set your self up for disapointment and loose sight of the weight you DID loose! Its kinda like if someone told you that you won $800, but then you find out you really only won $500 ... it kinda feels disapointing Even though a $500 prise would be awesome.... i dont know i guess that kinda sounds silly but my point is that even if you dont loose 8 lbs you are still a winner! Good Luck |

| A $500.00 prize (or a 6lb weight loss) would be totally welcome! I will be grateful for whatever it is that I get!

| I think that goals are often unrealistic on this board. Atkin's is a way of eating for life and not an event driven "diet". I never set a goal. Why set yourself up for disappointment if you are truly committed to this way of life?

| That's a very realistic and should be an easy goal for you to reach. Go for it and stay strong. God Bless, joe |

| After having tried many different plans, and having goals, I will say that Atkins has been the best at attaining them, but the real goal should be long term as far as your measurements and weight goes, but it's day to day just to stay on plan. If you keep that day to day goal going, you will reach the others. I wish you the best of luck in your long term goals... just like I wish them for myself and everyone else here. Good luck to you!!!! | I'm not really sure. There are weeks where I will lose 7 pounds and then the next I could lose only 1. I don't understand my body sometimes.
