| I doubt that age is the primary factor. Fat and muscle ratios must be much more telling. I could, at the same weight, be much trimmer if fitter and bearing more developed and toned muscle. Now, with ageing comes muscle loss. Without hard work to maintain that toned muscle the flab of later years appears. How you can look trimmer at a higher weight and age, I don't know.

| People who have lost weight on a lowcarb WOE often seem to be slimmer at a higher weight than before they put on the weight! Many posters on low-carb boards say that they are now wearing smaller sizes at a higher weight, maybe it is that they have lost fat which takes up more space then the muscle they might have replaced it with?

| Perhaps it's different for men and women, and different depending how far up the obesity curve you are. I am about three pounds heaver than my lowest, but the same shape. Can only be more muscle from more exercise.
