| If it has sugar in it you can't have it. It doesnt matter that you're not swallowing the tobacco, cause you will be swallowing the sugar. If you eat bubble gum - you're still eating sugar. You might not SWALLOW the gum, but you swallow the FLAVOURS!!! (sugars) I know the idea is that you spit when you chew, but you'l be swallowing some, and some sugar is WAYYY TOOO MUUCCHHH SUUUGGAAARR. Also, chewing tobacco is totally gross. hehe. But seriously, its just going to make you crave things you arent allowed - and thats a sure fire way to fail. Good luck!

| Interesting question! I did a search online, and found that there is some sugar and syrup used in the 'casing' liquid. I don't know if that applies to all brands. Is there a list of ingredients on the can? What brand do you chew? Maybe we could look on the manufacturer's website and find if there are carbohydrates in that particular product, or we could send them an email requesting that information. |

| Hmmm.. that's a good question. Is there an ingredient list on the back of the can/pouch? What brand is it? Maybe you can go directly to their website and get some info there. Maybe even some contact information that you could call the manufacturer. Please let us know what you find out.

| As a southerner, I got a good chuckle out of this post! Sounds like something a co-worker might ask around here. I gave up chewing after a forklift accident while chewing Copenhagen back in college (I swear that brand has a stronger effect than the Skoal that was my mainstay!). Still a worthwhile question. My gut feeling is that is should be avoided. If you can't get a good answer on the web, I would suggest trying a week with and a week without not changing anything else over that two week period with your diet/exercise. If there is a sharp difference in weight loss, you'll have your answer. Good luck!

| After 24 years of chewing, I have gone 11 months without. I quit cold turkey and would highly recommend you reconsider and quit as well. Send me your email address and i'll send you some pics of me teeth and gums. |

| One of the very very very initial actions of digestion begins in the mouth with salivary amylase which is an enzyme that breaks down starch into sugars.....the very first thing that happens in the chain of events of digestion is the digestion of sugar. Gosh our bodies are quick on absorbing the bad stuff! That's why even things like gum can be detrimental! So, if there are sugars in your tobacco, best be guaranteed that amylase is taking as much sugar as it can from it! Hope that helps! |
