Unhappy I am SO mad

at myself..

I let myself slip and it makes me so angry. I was doing so well with this wonderful WOE. I am 10lbs down from my highest weight and I have been getting compliments from everyone.

But then I had to have chili with beans, and breaded shrimp, and sweet potatoes. What was I thinking?

It's an awful feeling to let yourself down. I know that I can "get back on the horse" as they say, but it's just disappointing to know that I failed myself YET AGAIN. As soon as I saw that weight loss slow, I used it as an excuse to start going "off course" a little bit. Plus, I was getting bored with the menu.

These arent excuses, just the truth.

I just wanted to share this in case anyone is feeling or has felt similarly.

No need to feel overly sad, I've done that in the past. There are so many menus for low carb diets. Try new foods you haven't had before, I don't know what phase you're but even in phase one you can find new things to put together. Atkins.com is full of menus, this site has a plenty also. You don't have your current weight or goal weight posted so I don't know if you're trying to lose 10 or 100 pounds. I guess my point is you don't have to limit yourself to the same meals everyday (that would get boring). How about posting what you've been eating so that you can get more assistance.

So don't stay down get up and try something new!!!!

sorry to hear about the slip up.. however, you cant learn to walk without falling once in a while.. its a learning experience.... pretty soon you'll be walking and wanting to run.. you can do it.. just jump back up on that horse and set your sights on the horizon.. YOU CAN DO IT...

come here often, read everything... keep up the good work !

Cool Re: I am SO mad

I think we ALL understand what happened to you and I asure you that you are not alone. I am on day 13 of induction, not sure how much I am down, on day 8 I was down 4.3lbs and just havent had a chance to weigh since then. But, everyday I have to talk myself out of quitting. Yesterday I took my kids to the zoo and all day I tried to say "dont quit!!" but I wanted to all day. I really wanted a swirl ice cream cone. I did lick the spoon once, a tiny bit, but still in ketosis when I got home and today.
SO, just keep going, you can and that is the good thing about this "way of life" Good Luck.

Yes, I know how you feel! There is nothing wrong with making mistakes. In fact it may be a good thing that you did. In your post you outlined why you made the mistake. You got bored! Now that you see your mistake you can do what you can to change it. Try this site for new recipes. Try to make a hobby out of discovering delicious ways to cook low carb food!

DOn't be too mad at yourself, JUST sufficiently mad enough that you won't do it again.

TRUTHFULLY... I really feel that when we slip up like that we need to sit down and analyze the crap out of how we let it happen. WHere were you, who were you with, what were you doing... ask yourself thse kinds of questions. YOU need to figure out if it you set yourself up for failure or of it was a mindful failure, meaning you did it kind of on purpose because you wanted to.
IF it was a situational failure, learn from that experience what to avoid and do differently to prevent these episodes....
IF it was a mindful thing... you need to examine your motives for being on Atkins and challenge your position and your goals...

FOR me... FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION... I know what I want to look like, feel like and to be able to physically do.... and being aware of these things keeps me in check constantly.

Just keep your head down, look forward and don't feel bad so long as you can learn something about yourself from this "slip-up"

Keep us posted

Kathy

Dream, Ive always heard failing is not falling, its staying down once youve fallen. Learn from it and keep moving, Glad yer back here talking about it. I can relate to getting a lil discouraged when the weight doesnt drop as soon as i would like. But it took me a long time to get in this shape, its not going to go away in a months time. Monday will be the begining of my 5th week. A 2 week clean induction, then 2 weeks OWL. I travel alot so it can be pretty challenging in the airports, But I am still doing very well. I have had a cup of coffee here and there, and need to stay away from it, but if that is the least of my pitfalls im pretty happy. My appetite is so much more manageable, and I do feel like ive got more energy, not missing that afternoon slump. Now that Im home for the weekend I need to make myself some Adkins friendly treats. Hang in there kiddo, easy on yourself. I find the harder I beat myself up mentally the more likely I am to slip back into the (I dont care) mode, and that is no place I want to be. I do care I do care I do care I do care :0) have a blessed day. Dont worry about not having pizza for the rest of your life, just stay in today. cook up some sausage peperroni onion mushrooms and cheese and enjoy that lil mix.
